If that's what it says then they cannot refuse just because of that. The requirement is that the relationship is genuine and subsisiting. In assessing this they will take all evidence into account and are given guidelines as to the kind of things that would presupose that the requirement is met. It ...

The requirement is that you have met. However, you also have to show that the relationship is genuine and subsisting (which is harder when you have only met once). Read the guidance notes that the UKBA use when assessing whether the relationship is genuine. http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/sitecont...

No any english qualified solicitor can do it. All they are saying is that the copy is certified as a true copy original (that they have seen). It is not a matter of immigration law

Hi responding to your question on a certified copy. I got mine done for free by a friend - but as a lawyer myself I think you should be looking at about £5 for the biog pages. This is the usual charge for a lawyer witnessing someone sign a statutory declaration with no annexes and the level of work ...

See http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/visas-immigration/partners-families/citizens-settled/spouse-cp/before9july/documents/ The old wording appears to be simply 'evidence that you have met' As I understand it the new rules shouldn't apply but perhaps they will argue that they are not imposing the ne...

It comes under Partner (probationary period) under table 1. So overall grant rate of 79%. Not very helpful as it doesn't break it down between spouse and fiance! The break down in numbers for the top 10 countries doesn't include Albania as you say and also doesn't include fiance visas either Rules s...

I'm sorry to hear that.

I was looking the other day for published stats on refusal rates (morbib curiousity whilst we wait!) but only found a consultation doc for the new rules with stats for the 10 embassies which get the most applications. Columbia isn't on it, neither is Albania

Hi No-one knows the answers to these questions as it is not even clear whether the courts will take the immigration rules into account when making a decision. The guidance given in the rules in many cases is at complete odds to previous court rulings. Some people speculate that if the judges don't t...

Thanks. I am with my husband and will be waiting with him to travel back to the UK together - but I need my passport to use to my credit here and to check into hotels etc. I assume that sending my passport is voluntary and not compulsory?

Does the sponsor have to send their passport too?

Sorry stupid question, we are posting the docs in the morning and I just read someone else's post that they submitted the sponsors passport too.

As the sponsor I was just going to submit my birth certificate and certified copy of biog pages of my passport as evidence of my age.

Thanks

That was my thought too. Save for my limited company not yet having a tax return (first year end Dec 2012) we meet all of the new rules, financial, no third party support, no overstays etc. I guess the best we can do is hope and pray now

Hi, I actually applied under the old rules but am self employed through a limited co. I didn't meet the new rules as I don't yet have a tax return as the co has only been trading for 8 months - so I had to bring forward the wedding. What docs you need to provide depends on whether you are self emplo...

Hi I am the sponsor and I got married on 7th July. We submitted the online application (which was already saved on the computer) on 8th July. Now we cannot find my husband's passport - it was taken many places to get copies, to get married to register the marriage at the mayor's office. His biometri...
