Does anyone know about this fee? I just rang up World Bridge (from the link above), and they tell me I have to pay a courier fee of 87.50 euros per person for sending the biometrics info to and from the UK, and that this is unavoidable. This is absolutely outrageous. EU Directive 2004/38 clearly sta...

Why are these questions on the EEA Family Permit form?

I am a UK citizen with non-EEA family, using the Surinder Singh route to bring my family back into the UK, having worked in Holland. I'm currently in Holland, filling out an application form for a UK Family Permit using a UKBA on-line application form: https://www.visa4uk.fco.gov.uk/AppProcess/s_App...

@chaoclive: I think the Dutch government are as extreme as the UK on immigration, and use any oppportunity they can to interpret the rules in ways to make it as difficult as possible for the immigrants. I get the impression they are the worst two in the EU. What I really could have done with was a l...

I think I saw a paragraph in Directive 2004/38 that said if you were living in the country for longer than 3 months, then the country were allowed to stipulate a minimal amount of income or savings to ensure that you're not a "burden" on the state. Actually, looking at it again, I'm not so...

Could I ask what kind of job you managed to find in the Netherlands? I'm thinking about Surinder Singh too but not sure where to go... It was at a university, as a researcher. This work was highly relevant to my career, as it happens. Before this opportunity arose, I was thinking of just moving to ...

@Directive/2004/38/EC: I was told at my first appointment at the IND that my gross salary needed to be above a certain level (I think it was about 1,350 euros per month), and that in any case it needed to total at least that monthly amount times 12 (i.e. about 15,000 euros per year). I had a part-ti...

Yes, maybe we'll end up staying here. I'm not sure if I'll be entitled if the UK leaves the EU after a referendum in 2017. But I won't be leaving it that long. But anyway, I'm now trying to apply for the EEA Family Permit. I go to the UK Border Agency webiste, and the page for EEA Family Permits lin...

Here's an update on my situation. This has not been an easy ride! I get the impression that Holland is the most difficult country for doing the Surinder Singh route via. (Does anyone concur?) This is a bit of a long story, with no question as such. I'm just writing this tale of woe to let people kno...

Can non-EEA family members fly in and out of Heathrow?

I am a British citizen using the Surinder Singh route to bring my non-EEA family members (wife and stepson) into the UK. We are currently living in Holland, and still waiting from the Dutch Immigration Authority (the IND) to process my wife and stepson's applications for verification against EU law ...

Can I use Directive 2004/38/EC for non-EEA stepson?

I am a UK national with non-EEA wife and stepson. They are currently living with me on a 6-month visitor visa in the UK (and my stepson's father has given written consent for his son to live with me and my wife). I have been offered a job in the Netherlands (initially for 3 months, but which may ext...

Ted, My mum is terrified of flying, and won't get in an aeroplane. And, believe me, proving that you meet the settlement visa income requirement is a total nightmare if you don't meet the savings requirement (72,000 in my case) but have your own company. Please don't try to tell me I lack commitment.

Ted, I was responding to points made about applying for a visitor visa. I think I'll go for a visitor visa for my wife, as a quick way of visiting the UK to enable my parents to see my daughter for the first time, and give me option of taking up a 6-month contract that I may get offered. As a matter...

Hi Franko, Yes, good question, but don't I need a job in a non-UK EEA country first? I am currently looking for such a job. I totally sympathise with your situation. What I would recommend is forget about a spousal settlement visa, and come over to the UK on a visitor visa. Like you say, you can look for a company willing to sponsor you for a work visa, and with your skills I'm sure you stand a chance. And at least you'l...

... The actual evidence required in each stage is different: - To move to any member state - you don't need anything. Your partner might need an entry visa. The entry visa (if needed) should be free of charge and issued on an accelerated process. Normally just a marriage certificate and a copy of y...
