Is it possible to claim housing benefits while applying for residency?
My husband is working but the benefit calculator says we are entitled to tax credits and housing benefits. Will this put in risk the residency?

I am an EU citizen. My husband is applying for residence. We have been told we can apply for tax credits, child tax credits and child benefits. but, we are allowed to some housing benefit but I am not sure if this last bit will put his residency application at risk.

We got the permit no problem and was treated fair.
We are in the uk and applying for residence now.
It was very easy

Do you know if he can work while the visa is being processed? I have just read that it can take up to 6 months. Or do we need to apply for the family permit here before we go so he can work over there?

I thought he needed to apply before going into the country. So, what does he do? He enters like he is going on holidays and then apply for residence while we are over there?
