Re: Expedited passport (EEA Naturalization)

Hey, thank you for your quick response and helpfulness. is there another service I can use? I called their 0900 number but it's decommissioned :( You need to apply online. If you apply on paper (which the Home Office is strongly discouraging people in the UK from using) you will have to send your d...

If you apply online, after the person countersigning your application has done their bit, you'll get an email with a specific instructions on where to mail your application.

You could consider applying online. It’s far more straightforward in the questions and very clear about what you need.

you upload your documents before the appointment. They collect your biometrics and check that you've uploaded your documents properly at the appointment. You should have your originals with you at the appointment in case they need to re-upload anything.

All that needs to happen is that the name in your current passport matches your name in your certificate of naturalisation, and this will be the name in your British passport.

Re: Starting a Business Abroad before Citizenship Application

There are no requirements about where you own businesses, so long as you continue to remain primarily resident in the UK. If it appears that you've been permanently away since you set up that business abroad, one would wonder if you intend to remain resident in the UK (one of the requirements for na...

Also note that when you apply for the passport, the picture would need to have been taken within 1 month of the passport application, so it's unlikely that you can reuse the one used for naturalisation.

I can now stop worrying I've missed an email, and start sitting by the door. :-D The 'no updates' or 'no confirmations' or no way to look up the status of your application is nerve-racking. For me anyway. :-) These boards help a lot. Thank you. That is a horrible aspect of this se...

What date did you arrive in the UK? When you say no visa was required, on what basis was that? Were you admitted into the country as a short-term visitor with time limit? What date did you apply for, and what date? All these details matter to form a view based on citizenship rules and regulations. W...

Re: Can my son travel to UK?

If you are doing this to avoid applying for an Indian visa dont. In any case you would be applying for the child's OCI so it would be irrelevant. You would require departure clearance if you dont apply for OCI. You would need UK visa on the Indian passport to leave the country or the airline would ...

Re: British Citizen Certificate Details

Yes, you need the certificate to apply for a passport, and you need to send your certificate back to Home Office AFTER you have had your ceremony. When you get your ceremony, you’ll receive an envelope with an information booklet in it, which will let you know what to do.

Re: I got approval for citizenship

Congrats on your citizenship being granted. No, you don't have to return your card. Whilst the PR Card is a biometric card, it's not a BRP (that's for Indefinite Leave to Remain). You can find more info in a previous thread here: https://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/do-pr-card-needs...

Re: Applying for citizenship right after getting a permanent status?

Based on what you've described, there's no difference in how long it will take you through Settled Status or PR route. The only thing that can impact whether or not you need to wait an additional year after settled status or PR is if you're married to a British citizen.

Only if they are both allocated to the same processing centre. You’d also need to take care that supporting documents don’t get mixed up.

That means the period of overstay was not more than 28 days. It was several years in the case of your husband.

Re: Citizenship online application for US citizen - English language proof requested

That’s what I used to understand, which is why it’s strange that the online application doesn’t give you an opportunity to say you’re exempt based on nationality.
