I've seen a couple of people here who applied for these visas when not living with their spouse and they weren't asked for any proof of relationship history (or at least didn't mention it and the timescale would indicate they weren't) and got their visas three or four weeks later. These were ''join ...

I understand the point you're making Frei. The issue is that for some people, if these documents aren't requested on the INIS site or the application form/summary, then they might feel that offering them 'unsolicited' invokes suspicion in itself! For me personally I think I will email INIS prior to ...

Surely it is a requirement mostly by the UKBA AND INIS, you could try making an application without this evidence and see how quickly they can have a reason to deny the application, they were suppose to know a genuine marriage from a convenience one , the only way to know this is by requesting thes...

So to re-visit perhaps the trickiest question of the thread....does anyone know if we could apply for the 'accompany spouse' visa for her and then not actually travel that time I am there but at another time when I am in Ethiopia at a later date...say 4-6 months later? Would the visa still be valid?

And thats what we shall do! But i wonder how long the UKBA take to issue EEA FP's? I bet we will be waiting some time! I just have this horrible thought running around in my head that its going to take ages, the whole process, but our savings will be going down and down and....we just want to get b...

I'm not an expert here, but I've heard that just living in the CTA doesn't satisfy the habitual residence condition for unemployment benefit in Ireland - it has to be 2 years' residence in the Republic of Ireland itself. Other benefits may be different however. I only heard this because somebody on ...

Thanks, the legalisation of the certificate shouldn't be a problem as the British Embassy in Ethiopia will do that for us (for a fee) One question I do have....if I apply for the join spouse visa for her while I am in Ireland, I will have to submit her passport apparently, how can I do that if I am ...

I mean are the Irish embassies more keen to grant the latter type of visa than the former? The facility exists for those applicants accompanying a spouse. Evidence may need to be provided such as a letter from the EU spouse stating this fact. The facility also exists for applicants joining an EU sp...

Thanks, can you explain the reasoning there? The reasoning behind it is to do with all the hassle with Immigration Officers considering that you will have to transit. Being in the company of someone you are married to, I think, prevents so many questions being asked. Also do you think there is a bi...

But we can reasonably assume three further months as a jobseeker if needed, provided no social welfare being claimed, let alone an 'unreasonable burden' on the welfare state right? I was under the impression the three months time limit was a bit of a non-issue provided you didn't actively take the ...

Logistical questions about bringing non-EU wife

I am British citizen and my wife to be (marrying in the first week of Feb) is Ethiopian. We intend to move to Dublin ASAP after marrying and live there together - not just as a stepping stone back to the UK under the Singh route but as a possible long term move in itself. Can anyone answer these for...

non EU wife visting UK with me from Ireland

Me and my wife will be living in Ireland from July 2013, will she be able to visit the UK with me with just an Irish Stamp 4 in her passport at xmas time (she won't even have an Irish 4EUFam card at this point), or will UKBA insist that she gets a tourist visa? I'm talking about her travelling WITH ...

Tell her to take another test that doesn't really matter, it's just an exercise to get her used to taking the test. Tell her you've written this one off and don't expect her to pass it, it's just an exercise to get her used to the situation, a training exercise to help her out. You may find that wit...

That is correct, she is living in the UK and is taking online courses from a European university. It may be an expensive option, but it looks like it is the only option. What about if I was to move to the US with her? Is it any easier? Are there more options? I have heard just marriage is enough? T...

Re: South African born British citizen wanting to emigrate

Hello everyone! I am currently living in South Africa with my husband of 2 years and my daughter (16 months). I am British by descent but have never lived in Europe, only holidayed there. I would like to move to Ireland with my family as we are uncertain about our daughters future. I am looking for...

People are currently putting applications in under Cat A with more than one employer (source: expatforum etc) so that will be the acid test I suppose. As of right now it remains ambiguous, confusing and untested. Over the next 2 or 3 months it will become more clear. Honestly though I'm expecting t...

I don't know about how they are graded but the fact that the 'lowest' available ESOL KET is an A2, rather than A1 level test must surely be a factor.

It would be an EUTR visa that your wife would apply for then, not a visit visa. How can she apply for that if I am not yet in Ireland, let alone exercising treaty rights there? As long as she's accompanying you to or joining you in Ireland, your wife is entitled to an EUTR visa. Okay, thanks. So if...

Is work allowed for the non eu spouse in the starting 3 months? Technically yes, proving their eligibility to work can be a challenge though. Depends whether they are given the correct stamp on entry or are able to obtain it later, which seems a bit arbitrary and pot luck from what I can gather. To...
