Re: British Citizenship after long absences

Hello Seniors / Moderators, I have the query, with regard to my timing for British Citizenship application. I came to UK in Oct. 2006, on work visa & then converted to Tier 1(G), in Mar 2009. I got the permanent residency in Jan 2012. In Jan 2012, when I was awarded ILR, I had a total of 570 da...

Re: British Citizenship after long absences

AndyGandhi, There is no distinction between personal absences and Official absences as such. However in exercising discretion they will consider that absences were due to nature of the job/service and its a plus if you were in crown service or on behalf of a British company abroad. You say when you...

Re: Used IRIS Crossing to enter into the UK - Advise needed

Dear Gurus, senior members & Moderators, I have a very particular question for which I am unable to have any proper answer, and decided to throw this towards the people of this forum to help me out of it. Back in 2009, I volunteered for an IRIS Scheme, where a person when entering into the UK c...

Casa,

What is the definition of short visit & how much stay would be good to reset the clock for 2 yrs counting? I think, it is not crystal clear in UKBA guidance, but appreciate, if there is any experience in this regard.
Thx

Once I get the offer letter. I am planning to move to India. Also I will take schengen visa for a year or so. I will try my luck thorugh Schengen country every year. I personally think, you might be jeopardising your ILR. IMHO, you should be working abroad, not more than 2 yrs. & return to UK w...

If you ar entering the UK after 1.5 years there should not be a problem. However if the gap after leaving is very close to 2 years, like a few weeks short, or over 2 years then the ECO has the right to stop you. There is no specific guidance on the requirements except to state that you have substan...

Hi Boarders, I was granted ILR in 2012 start & after couple of months I had went to native country for some personal reasons. As per the rule, continuous 2 yrs. stay outside UK will make me lose my ILR, which I do not wish to happen. I can not travel to UK for another couple of months. I have b...

Changes in Rules to affect British Citizenship

Hi Boarders, As per today's news, regarding the absences allowed for ILR, under work routes, what about the absences allowed for British Citizenship? However, it is not clear yet, whether, absences of 180 days are allowed only in one year or all preceding 4/5 yrs. of ILR, but if it is 180x5=900, wou...

It doesn't matter what you do abroad. If you return within 2 years, you won't lose ILR. However it will probably mean you will need to live in the UK for 5 years after you return before becoming eligible to apply for naturalisation. Hi Jumbo, Thanks for your reply. Is it not necessary to demonstrat...

I do not think, that you need a solicitor for your ILR application. He will only submit the application, nothing else, however, if you apply in person, you can answer any queries,by case worker.

Hope this helps.

Hi All, I have applied for ILR at Croydon on June 6th and my case was deferred for senior case worker checks due to one business absence of 95 days. They told me these checks would usually take 3 weeks. Today is 3 weeks from PEO appointment and I have still heard nothing. Because I need to travel f...

ILR is just that - indefinite! It will only lapse if you are outside the UK for over 2 years or in exceptional circumstances such as a serious criminal record. It is very unlikely that your ILR will be threatened but you did not say how long you have been back in your native country. If the litigat...
