Its good that you are researching your options before spending your parents' hard-earned money on education.

France is good if your French laguage skills are excellent otherwise you might be washing dishes.

Go to Canada if possible.

Just my 2p.

Does anyone have first hand knowledge of processing times for first time visitor visa in Pakistan?

The time frame provided by Brit High Commission is incorrect.

Mini, I am not trying to discourage you but anyone earning an equivalent of 9000 pounds in India can live very comfortably in India. In my opinion, immigration is for people who cannot make ends meet in their home countries. A person like you can do well in India. You may visit any country if you ar...

In my opinion WPUK is correct. The HSMP starts from the date on the WPUK letter. They are not responsible if we or the consulate are/is slow in getting/granting an EC.

No one can be 'forced' to travel against their will as per my understanding of your Q. Exactly. But the impression I got from gen_2004's post was a bit different. gen2000 wrote: Hello there, I need some advice. Kayalami, Is it possible for gen_2004 to take his wife by force to India? If his wife approaches the Home Office and gives them "her" version (so far we have "his" version) of the story, things could become quite complicated. In the past, people of South Asian origin have been in...

1) Cheque drawn on a UK bank a/c
A bank draft from Pakistan is treated as a cheque drawn on a UK bank. I have used it. Its called a FDD in Pakistan but in fact it is a cheque in favour of someone (in this case the HSMP team). It takes up to five working days to clear.

Sadly, the quality of Pakistani engineers (Esp. from UET) is really bad. I know several of these who could not pass their Masters in first attempt. Some of them were my class-fellows in one of the top British unis. 3. Britain's Engg Council states that if council registration is not present then eng...

A three years bachelor from Pakistan is not equivalent to UK bachelor.

An engineering degree from Pakistan is not recogized by the Engineering councils in the UK. So you may not find a job where a registration with Engineering councils is required.

In the UK and most Western countries, surname is the last name. So next time use the following format no matter what your surname is. Surname = Your LAST Name (As written on passport). First Name = Your First Name (As written on passport). Forget the desi way of sometimes writing surname in the begi...

A Pakistani Masters = UK bachelor

Your masters from France will be considered a Masters degree (if its from a recognized institution).

I am not sure whether FAST is recognized in the UK. Check out with NARIC or the British council.

OT: Editing pdf Files (Use PDF Editor)

You can do it if you download a shareware called "pdf editor". You have to pay to use the full version.

You can find the utility by searching on google. Get the latest version ie probably 2.2.

Sorry everyone but can anyone please advise. According to a friend, this does not make any difference as long as the forms have been filled properly. The Visa category on the receipt is for Fedex internal use onely and has no relation to the High Commission.
Is that correct?

My cousine wants to apply for a student visa. His studies will be paid for by his parents. The bank accounts are in his parents' name.

Can anyone please provide an outline of a letter he needs to attach with the bank statement.
