What I meant was that after you complete the application online they tell you what documents to bring. This list includes the employment documentation quoted above, which is aparently unnecessary. I did fill out section 7 (employment and finances) I didn't list any property in assets. I brought bank...

I had my EC interview this morning in Los Angeles. I arrived at 8:50 and had an interview at 10:30. There were approximately 10 people ahead of me in line when I arrived. I would recommend arriving a bit before 8:30 if you can since the room fills up quickly. There is visitor parking under the consu...

My experience in the US was that the consulate staff were very helpful over the phone in telling me what documentation I need to bring. In my case they want: 1) a fully completed entry clearance application form VAF1 2) a genuine HSMP criteria approval issued by the HSMP Team of Work Permits UK 3) s...

Re: EC from US

The "letter confirming your period of leave" is not required, at least not in Los Angeles. The reason I called the consulate is becaused I was confused about it. Like I said, it's a very good idea to call the consulate where you will be submitting your application. The online VAF1 is the s...

I did the online application on Tuesday. They did not tell me travel confirmation was required, but they do ask for the date of travel and who is paying. I'm going to get my EC tomorrow and will bring my travel confirmation just in case.

I filled out the VAF1 online at britainusa.com and since it's a general form they ask for "a letter confirming your period of leave from your employer together with salary slips for the last 3 months..." I called the consulate and talked to a very helpful visa clerk who sent me the HSMP sp...

Tryafrica, I frankly wouldn't read anything into the fact that your consultants haven't heard back from any applications after February 1 other than that they probably don't have many clients. Extrapolating from the data I have (you can do this yourself on the "Processing Time Estimator" t...

HSMP doesn't require any particular field, however you do need to show that you can continue your career in the UK.

As long as your position is of graduate level (preferrably supported by a letter from your employer to that effect) you can claim points for it.

When only the above choices are given, I've chosen "able to work indefinitely without restriction" then been more specific when given a chance specifically: "I am authorized to work for any employer in the UK under a HSMP work permit, valid through May 2005, renewable for 3 years (aft...

Congrats Melyni! Sukate, I put your estimated submit date as 1 day before the credit card got charged since that appears to be the normal delay. You should be able to get your reference number by requesting it from hsmp.workpermits@wpuk.gov.uk, although unless it's been more than the published proce...

Druid, you have the dubious distinction of having the longest processing time (112 days) for an HSMP application I've seen so far. Was there anything unusual about your application (additional documentation requested etc?). The success of the LTR seems to hinge on being able to support yourself with...

Was Feb 12 the date the application was received by the home office?

Do you know your reference number?

Working remotely for a US company

My current employer has offered me the opportunity to work remotely from London while I look for a position locally (or if it works well for both myself and my employer it may become a more permanent arrangement). I think I'd be allowed to do this under HSMP if I set myself up as an independent cont...

It's curious that your reference number is out of order. I'd expect an application from 2/12 to have a reference number of around 13000. It may be that they do allocation by date and just haven't quite gotten to yours yet. Next Thursday your application will have been in the Home Office for 12 weeks...

This is going to be highly dependent on the laws of your state, but your state almost certainly has procedures for divorcing in the case of abandonment. I would strongly recommend getting a lawyer to assist you. If you can't afford a lawyer or just want to get more information, the courts in your st...
