Thank you for your reply and all the information. My husband does not receive any jobseekers benefits as we are afraid it would show that we are relying on public funds, which is often frowned upon while applying for a visa. I have entered Northern Ireland through Dublin, so the stamp on my passport...

Thank you for your super quick reply! you're fantastic. At the moment he is not employed I'm afraid, but he is looking. Do you think we can still get the Irish spouse visa while looking for jobs? Our savings are about 7,000 euros in his account, and about 9,000 euros in mine. As my tourist visa is h...

Hi, I am a non-EU citizen married to an dual UK/Irish citizen who is settled in the UK (Northern Ireland). We got married in 2011 in Ireland. I just got a reply from the European Operational Policy team from the UK border agency that clears all this up, here goes: Schedule 3 of the Immigration (European Economic Area) (Amendment) Regulations 2012 (“the amending regulations”) sets out the transitional arrangements for persons affected by t...

Yes, he has always been a dual citizen since birth. However sometimes he used his British passport and sometimes his Irish one. We are trying to think of a way to be eligible to settle in the UK (Northern Ireland) because that's our goal. We are looking into living in another EU state for a while an...

Sorry for posting again on this topic, but after reading schedule 3 about the transitional period a major question popped into my head. What do people who have applied for an EEA family permit prior to July 16th need to gain from this period until October? Is it to give enough time for their applica...

No we haven't applied for the permit before, and we are living apart meaning I have always lived in my mother country, a non-EEA country, and he has lived in the UK. So I was never living in the UK. So I guess it's not going to work out for us this way :(

Thanks dearest Jambo.
Me and my husband got married last october (2011), but have been living apart since then (for work reasons). So you think it is people like us that the transitional period covers?

New regulations coming into effect

Although on the UK border agency website it says that all the changes to the EEA regulations came into effect July 16. In a lot of other places it shows that the specific amendment concerning British nationals not being considered EEA nationals anymore would come into effect 16 october 2012. Does an...
