http://epetitions.direct.gov.uk/how-it-works You may also want to try setting up an epetition. Where there are more than 100,000 signatures, the matter is debated in Parliament and a government response to the epetition is required. I have provided the link that explains how it works. The site is se...

epetition

I came across this, it's information on how to start an epetition. It could be worth the effort to start an epetition about the poor service levels currently provided by UKBA (rather than contacting BBC who may not be interested as there is not enough sensationalisation of the issue and a lot of ant...

I agree, the time it takes to process an extension at the moment is just f*ing unacceptable. I had a similar situation but managed to convince them that it was fine. My boss' attitude was that given it's in progress, he wasn't fussed. So, not sure how much this will help, but the Immigration Act 197...

gaurave76.5 is correct.

The application only joins to the queue to be looked at once they have received biometrics. It is only after this that UKBA consider it to be "complete". Unfortunately, you will now have the waiting process which everyone else seems to be stuck in...

I am in the same boat, booked a holiday with the intention to do via PEO but was unable to get one in the mad scramble despite trying over a 4 week period. Thought a 3 month buffer should be enough but still waiting. Work trip and personal holiday will have to be cancelled (unfortunately, will not g...

I don't think it matters, but think it's Labour. My understanding is that any Government department is required to respond to an enquiry from an MP in a timely manner. So, if you are able to convince your MP/MP office to enquire on your behalf, then it should speed up the process - the theory being ...

Yes, I have noticed that it has taken 5 weeks to move from 16 June to 20 June too! I agree with you.

The service standard has become a bit of a joke.

I have actually written to my MP about the state that UKBA appears to be in out of frustration.

I have had a similar (but NOT identical) situation the first time I applied - I received an acknowledgement letter from UKBA for my application (back then they didn't have biometric requirement) with a reference number, but then no payment was ever taken from my bank account. After about 2 months, I...

Thanks, very useful. Yes, sending in the application in hindsight was a massive faile and naive on my part (although I am only an extension case, so the service standard is much less and thought 2+ months should be fine to get it back in time but UKBA are way behind). I am also an Australian, so thi...

Tier1immigrant, point taken, and this has nothing to do with the additonal £300 cost. If you are able to book your PEO appointments in without much effort, then consider yourself very fortunate. I tried to book ANY appointment ANYWHERE between the period from 1 May to 15 June but that proved to be p...

Concurrent passports

I am in this same position, my application is pending but need to travel at the end of August, it looks like I will have to rearrange again and whilst employers have been accommodating, it isn't a great position to be in. I have considered applying for a concurrent passport but thought that this was...

MP office has made contact

My MP's office contacted me via telephone today to confirm that they had contacted UKBA on my behalf and followed up on the progress of my application. The MP office advised that they were only able to confirm that my application had been received and it is currently with a caseworker for considerat...

Write to MP about long Tier 1 (General) processing times

Dear all, I have seen on other forums that where cases are taking a very long time to be considered by UKBA, if you are registered to vote, it might be worthwhile to involve your local Member of Parliament (MP) to enquire on your behalf. I have not tried this process before myself but thought I shou...
