I managed to find a friend who owns a one man company and got it signed by him. It worked smoothly and received the passport today.

If you have ILR on a BRP then you dont need to send the passport - simply send the BRP. I would also suggest using NCS because this way you wont have to send any original documents and hence no chance of anything getting lost and they can also confirm what documents you will have to send.
