I am now looking for the option to re-apply my daughter and my wife's dependant visa together. Do we need to give an explanation to the previous mistake? Does anyone have a template for this kind of matter? Many thanks!

There is no exception for weekends not to be counted as absence. However the day you depart and day you come back are not counted as absence. eg: Depart 5th - Arrive back 6th = zero days absence Depart 5th - Arrive back 7th = 1 day absence Depart 5th - Arrive back 8th = 2 days' absence and so on......
