hi, you are welcome. i applied through my university's batch scheme, and they don't notify people about the acknowledgement letter (I asked them though), only for biometric enrollment and when your documents arrive.
even if you applied by yourself, they should be still able to ask.
Do you know if there's any way I can contact them and ask about my case? I've heard some people did that but when I called it was all automated responses... In my case, my university's international office have a contact person within the UKBA which they can ring up to chase if they are taking too ...

Hi Florenceday1, I actually received the letter on the 26th after 4 weeks of my initial application. Now I'm just waiting for a decision, would be great if you could let us know here when you hear back to have a rough idea of how long they are taking!
Does anyone know if its possible to phone up UKBA to ask what is the current status of the application? (Haven't received the biometric invitation letter, so would like to ask about it)
