Thank you all for your kind words, still so excited that I have my residency, I waited 17 years for this in all. I was jumping up and down on my bed last night after a few bubblies, what a great feeling this is. (And I want you all to feel the same very soon!) I am off from here, yes, but will pop b...

Re: Horror Stories

Only 400 people signed for petition, that's pathetic. We need way more. Please, people, sign up if you can, even after your applications were successful! Guys it will be good to read these stories about UKBA http://www.tntmagazine.com/news/australia-news/ukba-balls-up-readers-reveal-their-uk-border-...

gmx, I am so sorry to hear your in-law's health condition. Well at least he is ok now! It is too harsh a system that UKBA does not provide a expedite procedure for bereavement or similar. I hear that it takes anything like 6 weeks for the passport to come back in such cases at the moment. I will be ...

gmx, It is blatantly obvious UKBA don't have the system that works to clear the backlog first. What system do they have? A simpler one called "piling 'em up". They don't seem to digitalize the applications, so they all go around in the form of envelopes, or binders. They arrive at the home...

Re: Thanks Baax

Sorry, missed the last line there. If BRP will be posted then that's approved! You will get the plastic card very soon :) and that's the end of this waiting game. I am still waiting for someone who has been approved recently and does the letter just state what I mentioned and no words of 'approval' ...

You do your own blog on spouse visa, presumably because you have in-depth knowledge on the subject, and you criticize people who want to keep their nationality? I find THAT odd. Anyway, this thread is not for seeking approval of personal beliefs, so I shan't say no more. Some (many I know) people do...

Some (many I know) people don't opt for that route ;p Not every one is allowed double nationality, and not everyone wants to be Brit. (I, myself, won't naturalize till my folks are not with us. Will be longer than 10 yrs from now.) However, I am sure there will be a few people who misplace cards in ...

Captainfantastic, that's a great news, you may be receiving it as I type! As for the plastic card, because it has not been around for a while yet, nobody yet had to renew it. The process, the fee etc. has yet to be decided. UKBA may not decide it for next 9 years! However, I am sure there will be a ...

Re: Don't Be

Let's say it is all political, and UKBA chief executive Rob Whiteman is not a big fan of criticism coming from people who are yet to settle in UK or to become British citizens, all he has to do (for example) is to deport them, so their barking of complaints will less likely to be heard.... That's ce...

That's your call. I'd be reluctant to give such info, especially when my application is pending... But, I don't think they are interested in my story as it's not interesting enough, so my info will not be disposed, is my feeling. If they really do make this happen, then the petition will have to hav...

When we talk about the perfect, or "better" immigration system, the topic can be pure political! I watched labour's "point-base" system failing, which could have been a brill idea but David Cameron dissed it like yesterday's chips. Why did they fail? It was a wonderful idea! It s...

Re: Tier 1 general (ILR Processing time) SET 0

Current average waiting time based on stories in this forum are; SET(O) tier1/work permit - 5 to 8 months SET(M) - 3 to 6 months There are exceptions, of course, some get it within 3 months under any category, some wait over 10 months. Hi, Has anyone applied for ILR (SET 0) on tier 1 general categor...

Re: Another success story

Great to see a July applicant getting a result, hopefully Aug will follow soon (if UKBA ever comes to sense and start working through our piles in order.) Congrats!! I received our BRP cards this morning! I am thrilled though a bit angry with UKBA for taking almost 8 months to process the applicatio...

Re: SET(O) Application

Sanks, Our days will come... I have not lost all the hopes, I am sure it's almost here, but I sure am annoyed with inefficiency from UKBA. You never know if calling does or doesn't do anything, though. Some stories here suggest it does tricks occasionally. (I haven't called them myself, yet.) Applic...

Re: Waiting on the postman

Royal Mail signed for really is only trackable after the packet is delivered, so you just have to wait, but it sounds to me it is the one you've been waiting for! Be patient, you may get it on Sat! You have applied exactly 3 months AFTER me, in the same category, while I have no dependant... I am still waiting and so are many others from June, July and August. (((BIG sighs))) UKBA truly sucks. They suck like no other at this moment in my eyes. But, congrats! Wish your best new found freedom :)...

Re: ILR (M) Applied By Post And Waiting

Ah! Sorry, I tend not to look at the header, my fault. SET(M) is taking 3 - 4 months in many cases, some extending to wait for 6 months, unlike SET(O) tier1/work permit which now waiting well over 6 months. Hope this helps. Baxx wrote , "What category are you applying under? It seems some categ...

Re: ILR Set (O) Postal application in August 2012

Dear All, I am sorry but long wait raises many questions in my mind and hope with others too. I am sorry to ask about this question, are you aware of any rejection during this long wait for your friends, colleagues, relatives etc. Is it a normal process to keep it so long for everyone whether our a...
