I attended ceremony on 20th and was NOT asked to return the BRP, which is handy for boarding planes overseas unless the UKBA invests in US style pre-clearance at foreign airports.

I got an email to confirm (they have online booking system) and once the joint application was confirmed over the phone, they sent me a passport letter with joint application instructions. I thought about typing myself but then there were a few questions I wasn't sure of and needed NCS help to figure out so wrote the entire thing for consistency.
