So how did you manage to deal with Problem 3 in the end? Did you select today(wrong date) eventually? Because I'm applying for my wifes visa as well and havig a same problem it is not allowing to select past date as a 'date of issue' which is silly

You can't apply at the same time in circumstances where you are applying for leave to remain with a new sponsor in the UK, and she is applying for leave to enter from outside the UK.
