Will the BA relax 5 year requirement for my ILR application?

I think that the Border Agency made an error when they first granted me Leave to Enter in 2009. My Entry Clearance was valid from 16 March 2009 - 21 February 2012. Although I have just checked the Immmigration Rules (Part 6A, Paragraph 245 HC) which states that the period of grant should be: 3 years...

How long should Tier 2(General) visa be valid?

Grumman - I just PM'd you my long story.... For everyone else - no I never did apply for the residence card, and I'm not yet eligible for ILR so haven't been able to test the BA. At the moment, I am trying to contain my frustration (that's a nice word) on dealing with the BA, so have decided not to ...

I would tend to trust the advice from regular posters on this forum more than UKBA frontline staff. I agree. Thanks to all gurus on the immigrationboards who help us understand the EU laws. :D Lol. How embarrassing for UKBA that this is probably true. I wonder if Theresa May knows this. I just trie...
The main reason people do this is to have sufficient leave to gain access to financial products (mortgages, etc.)
Yes! That is exactly why I want it. To get a mortgage. I only have 11 months left on Tier 2, with 12 months to go to get ILR. Hence why I have to go...

They're not going to be suspicious about why I want an extension so far in advance?

How long in advance can you submit a visa renewal/extension?

I assume that you can't submit a renewal/extension a certain time before your current leave to remain ends, but I can't find it on the Border Agency's website. Any ideas? I've got 12 months left, but I want to apply for a mortgage and think that lenders will be unwilling to lend to someone with so s...

Second extension of Tier 2

I am on a Tier 2 visa, applied for in January 2009. I entered the UK in March 2009. I renewed my Tier 2 (extension) in January 2012 just prior to its expiry. I did this from inside the UK. This extension is due to expire in February 2014, just prior to my 5 years in the UK. I assume I will have to a...

Hi I renewed my Tier 2 (General) in March 2012 and I didn't need to prove maintenance because I was already a Tier 2 migrant. I assume the same is the case for the English language requirement - but cannot confirm as I am from a majority English speaking country so my passport proves it anyway. I th...

I just called the UK Border Agency Immigration enquiry bureau. Their advice was that you can't be in the UK under two immigration statuses. (Which seems to contradict other people's experiences?) Has anyone else got a different or same answer from the Border Agency? I got the feeling that the person...

Thanks so much for your answers!! I assume the reason I can have both is, as Greenie said, the UK immigration rules and the EU rules regarding the EEA residence card are separate. The UK can't stop me getting a residence card (if I meet he EU's criteria). For the benefit of future readers, I'd assum...

Can I be in the UK on two different grounds (visas)?

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows whether you can be in the UK under two different grounds and both 'visas' being valid? (Sorry, wasn't sure which board this would go on, so I went for this one) In my case - I am on a Tier 2 (General) Migrant visa, but intending to apply for a residence card as th...

Is living with EEA national considere not "time limited

Hi, This is my first post, so please excuse any mistakes I make. I am an Australian citizen looking to apply for British Citizenship. I have lived in the UK since September 2007 under the Tier 2 (General) migrant category. (However - I had this leave to remain cancelled when I moved to Sweden in 200...
