Carry all degree+school certificates since in some job applications (which you might apply at a later stage), secondary and higher secondary school information is required. Additionally, if you have certificates from attending workshops and courses and even other extracurricular activities, bring th...

No post is delivered on Sundays so how come HSMP guys are processing apps received on March 23 - a Sunday? Essentially in 5 working days - 40 man hours, assuming that at least one person is working, applications received in 4-5 hours on Saturday March 22 (a half working day) have been processed. Con...

Londonite recently posted that the 3 year extension was granted from the expiry date stamped on the EC/visa and the application was made about a 1 month before validity ended. I suppose HO don't want people sending in their passports too early so as to avoid unnecessary queues for those seeking furt...

In 2003-2004 financial year, income tax clearance was abolished and one no longer needs to get a certificate. One may be asked by the immigration officer to give their PAN at the time of leaving India. See http://www.onlinebangalore.com/fina/budget/page12.html (point 151- h) and http://www.ey.nl/dow...

Applying for provisional licence and selecting a theory test centre are straight forward steps which you can do yourself. The training school will only post your licence application and select a theory test date using the DVLA website and charge you big fees. The theory test by itself is quite simpl...

Yes you can since you pay for health insurance+pension (NI contibution) directly from your salary/income. As a result you will be eligible for treatment for any illness etc. except dental treatment which is partly covered-50% of cost I think. These are not state funds since you pay for them to begin...

I wonder how "gain benefits from coming to the UK" will be defined for those on visas that permit employment. Will it mean financial gain, comparing the salary earned in the UK vs. that in the home country, possibility of career enhancement....this is so subjective.

Since CTC and WTC have replaced children's tax credit and working families tax credit, respectively, both of which were public funds and not available to those subject to immigration control, it stands to reason CTC/WTC are public funds.

It makes more sense to get a one way ticket since you will not have to visit your home country within the ticket validity period. Get a return ticket from the UK when you next want to visit home - that is ofcourse if you still want to come back to the UK :-) And no as Chess said since there is a pos...

Agreed these two terms are not included under public funds definition. Though I wonder when that page was last updated, since these rules are in a constant flux. The link I provided was updated on 28/06/04. However, if IR takes the view that CTC and WTC are not public funds, which is a strong possib...

From the way I see it you should write to Inland Revenue explaining your situtation and request them to take appropriate steps. This could mean termination of tax credit and reclaiming what has been given so far. Alternatively, if you are eligible they should confirm the same in writing and you will...

I find it ill-logical that one can drive for a year with the home country licence and then to get the UK licence one has to clear the theory+practical tests. It widely varies depending from whom you are looking to rent. If you go to an agency they will want references from your bank, previous landlord, employer, person of good standing who had know you for at least 2 years etc. etc. Expect to be asked for one or more of these. If however you want to rent...
