from my own exprience
my daughter is in her senior infant but i sent her application with only letter from childbenefit, they(inis) sent out a letter back to me requestng for school letter,
my own advice is try to get both this will save you out of doubt

yes he/she is entitled to apply under you if still under age and living with you, sort for FORM 9 on inis website take time to go through their document requirement very simple and straightforward it only take two month to process aftr submission
