Re: February-2015 Naturalisation Application Timeline

Thanks for the update. When you made the application, did you send them photocopies of your passport? How dare would I make such a mistake  I didn't use NCS and posted my application with all my original passports. Once I found out it'll take them ages, I requested the return of my documen...

Re: February-2015 Naturalisation Application Timeline

I got a brown envelope, and it was from Home Office. I was so close to celebrating but sadly, HO want one of my passports :( The letter (dated 12-Jun-2015) stated that the passport is required to prove to the Secretary of State of my residency between 2010 to 2012. I find that period kinda odd beca...

I dunno, because they don't care about you? Because they're disorganised? Don't spend too much time worrying, life is short, do something else while you're waiting .. ;)

Re: February-2015 Naturalisation Application Timeline

That's terrible... The next batch of approvals should be on it's way for next week. Hopefully we will get a few February ones this time. Yes, it's really terrible, If they have not made any decision yet, why have not they returned my documents back which I have asked 7 weeks ago? hopfully we will g...

Re: February-2015 Naturalisation Application Timeline

i feel so worried now as I see the majority of February applicants got their replies. i applied on 4 of February through NCS and I thought it would be faster. However it is nearly 4 months and nothing but the money were deducted same week as i applied :( There are quite a few of us still waiting, n...

Re: February-2015 Naturalisation Application Timeline

You are worrying too much about it. I'd say relax and carry on with your life. The process is taking longer than necessary because Home Office have chosen to work on the Dec-Jan backlog. They'll get to us soon or later and when they do, we'll know. I have seen a lot of Feb applications waiting so I...

Re: Why does it take so long to process an application?

Your anecdotal experiences illustrate exactly what I'm talking about: Citizenship applications take a long time, both in the UK and elsewhere. My question is, why? It doesn't make sense. I understand the vent, but like it or not, citizenship is a privilege not a right ( page 8 ) so you need to fulf...

Re: Why does it take so long to process an application?

My understanding is that they sometimes have to contact a number of governmental departments, both in the UK and overseas. Those departments have their own agendas, and may not be in a hurry to respond to the home office. So, comparison with "background checks" agencies is not very fair, ...

Where did I say I'm worried or frustrated? Your anecdotal experiences illustrate exactly what I'm talking about: Citizenship applications take a long time, both in the UK and elsewhere. Re: Why does it take so long to process an application?

Still doesn't make any sense. The application fee of over £900 a head should more than cover man-hours. If they run out of staff, they should be able to hire more staff. 125,000 applicants is well over £100 million, with that kind of money they should be able to hire a few staffers to help out for t...

Why does it take so long to process an application?

Does anyone have any idea why it takes so long to process a naturalization application? Very rarely in the world does it take an otherwise advanced nation months/years to process a few pages of paperwork. Yes, I know, sometimes extra "background checks" are necessary, but how long does tha...

Re: Employment requirements for Naturalisation

Yes, that's right. Employment only matters for things like ILR where the application is based on your employment. For citizenship it does not matter. Living on savings, or even being in debt doesn't matter either, unless you have so much debt and unpaid bills that it damages your good character asse...

Are you required to invalidate your previous citizenship?

Suppose you get your British Citizenship. What is your status afterward? Are you required to inform your previous country of origin that you are now a British Citizen? Do you have to invalidate your previous citizenship? Or do you become a dual citizen?

My guess is the Home Office is getting rid of old cases prior to major changes since April 2015. Good news for older applications.
Which changes are these? I know of a change to the application form and fee, but is there any change to the actual process?

Re: March 2015 Naturalization application timeline

I'm a carer. And for my dbs to go through I need my citizenship so I can start my new job. I can't get a dbs on a invalid passport. But that's silly. Your citizenship might take 9 months, what are you going to do, starve to death? Why not find another job? I wish I could find another source of inco...
