Yep it's acceptable I myself took the academic version of ielts from aeo Karachi ... The gerrys guys as well people at aeo n British council would misguide u when u ask them about this ... U may check the list of approved English test providers list at the Ukba web page..

Well my case was quite similar to yours but I didn't inform Ukba about my divorce before submitting my visa application ... I submit my divorce and all other documents with the spouse visa application n Allhumdullilah I got it granted ... Jus make sure u include every document that proves your marri...

British passport application from Pakistan

Hi... I hav applied for my sons first time passport application from Pakistan on behalf of his father who is a British citizen by naturalization and is currently residing in england. I got my settlement visa 2 months back and now I'm waiting for my sons passport that has been submitted 4 months back...
