1] I'll PM you the name of the accountant who helped me out, not sure if it's ok to put their name on here. They're not a massive organisation, which is what I liked about them, so you'll probably get the same accountant who worked on my case. Since the place wasn't that big I got to chat with the d...

In response to the questions below: 1] Yes - I counted cash and cheque payments as part of my total income, also had scans of my cheques where possible and receipts or emails confirming receipt of payment 2] Caseworker didn't ask to see anything. I didn't even meet my caseworker. When my case was re...

What visa were you here on before Tier 1 General? I was on HSMP for 2 years and Tier 1 for 3 years. As evidence for meeting immigration rules in first 2 years I got a letter from my previous employer saying that for the dates which I was absent from UK I was either sent overseas for work, or was usi...

10:40am - arrived at PEO 10:45am - went through security (take everything out of your pockets, remove belts etc. to save time) 10:50am - went up to a counter where they stamp your application, give it back to you and give you a receipt to take up to the 3rd floor (an applicant came back down tellin...

ILR Success - Croydon PEO - Self Employed, Tier 1 (general)

This is a summary of my outcome. If you want more info on a section please see next post. HSMP > Tier 1 (general) > ILR (self-employed) Rough timings are below, don't assume your timing will be the same, overheard some people behind me saying how it was much quieter than usual when we were going thr...

Please consider any replies from senior members, but I got my ILR this week and this is how I filled mine in: 1.10, 1.12 My immigration lawyer told me it's not important to fill in the HO reference, so I left it blank - didn't cause any problems for me. BRP - if you have a biometric residence permit...

EMAIL INVOICES I teach evening classes and people find my details on my website and send me an email asking how to sign up for the class. I then send back an email with my bank details, the price they need to pay, and the dates for which their enrolments are valid. I later found out I should have h...

Got my ILR today :) It was very time consuming and quite mentally draining gathering all the paperwork (around 300 invoices) and making sure it could be verified against bank statements and business accounts etc. but worth it in the end. I'll write a more in depth account and post in the main ILR se...

Got my ILR today :)

I used the email invoices, and my accountant added a line to my letter saying that my main method of invoicing was electronic invoices in email format and that these are legally valid and meet statuatory requirements.

Not true, at least not for SET (O). The application and guidance says you " should " submit photocopies, not you "must". I got my SET(O) ILR today without supplying a single photocopy of anything and wasn't requested it at the end either, even though I had them with me (my case w...

Any ideas if this has worked out in the favour of applicants in the past?

I've got my PEO tomorrow and I'm hoping it means they'll try and rush through applications to avoid backlogs once the staff are back... wishful thinking?

I was fairly relaxed about all this until I met with an immigration lawyer who kept telling me my case is very unusual and to be prepared to be retained. They just sent me another email tonight saying I've got all the evidence I can possibly gather but that given my circumstances it's likely I'll ge...

Also... Regarding point 6 (Tax Return just submitted last week for 2012/2013), the guidelines say these need to be stamped by the tax authority - how did you have this done? Who is the 'tax authority'? And did you just print off your online self assessment summary? Finally, there's always confusion ...

My interview is on Tuesday, prayer state date: last Thursday. I've got the same evidence as you, but accountant is working on final wording on the letter now, which is a bit complicated because of my situation. He's trying to word it so it matches the requirements from guidance notes. Met with my so...

Thanks so much for your reply - I really appreciate it. I've checked Chapter 6A notes, can't find a reference to accountant's stamp - is th...

ILR - Self employed - multiple earnings evidence

Hi, I've been in the UK for 5 years total, 2 years originally under HSMP and finally 3 years under Tier 1 (general) and am applying for ILR next week through PEO. I had a meeting with a solicitor today and have become increasingly anxious as they pointed out that my application is very complicated a...

I've read success stories on this forum where applicants using self employed earnings to claim points present letters from their clients as a substitute for invoices. Thanks for that. I've had over 100 clients over the past 12 months, most of whom I doubt I'll be able to get in touch with at such s...

You haven't mentioned a copy of your last year's Self Assessment Tax Return. You'll need to submit that with your application. I hadn't seen reference to this in the guidelines - do you mean Self Assessment for 2011-2012? I have this so it's no problem. I thought I just needed NIC payments to prove...

Thanks for all the replies so far. I'm Tier 1 General, valid until 19 April 2013, have a PEO booked for 16 April. I found the list of HMRC invoice requirements on their website under "VAT invoices", however further down it says: When a VAT invoice must not be issued You must not issue a VA...

ILR - Self employed - Earnings evidence

I am a sports instructor and currently have almost 150 clients paying various amounts for enrolments throughout the year, a total of around 3...
