Thanks loverboy2

It just feels like its taking so long. Is there any way to see the status of it? Would it be on the INIS decisions page or is that only for other applications?

Thank you for the info. My husband is a visa required national and we will be going overseas so its not an option. If thats the case, then I think the best thing would be to re-apply for a family permit now and say we want to return in June? Will they allow him to re-apply right now, with still anot...

We forgot to include some things as well but it was as important as photos. I contacted them to let them know and they replied saying once we get the acknowledgement letter, it will have our application ID etc. We can then contact them with that and let them know. Also, they usually send a letter re...

Hi Jambo Thank you for your reply. I had a couple of questions. My husband applied for a family permit to visit family, but we have not actually used it yet. I read somewhere that if you don't use it, it becomes invalid? Does that affect any future applications? Also, technically how would they know...

We have already applied for the EEA family permit (currently in Ireland) which is valid till April but we are not planning on returning until after April so we need to re-apply.
I thought it would not affect the UK resident card application as it is meant to be optional?

Will these new rules apply to the EEA family permit OR the UK resident card applied via EEA2?

Help regarding new SS rules

I have read that new rules are coming in from 1st Jan. I can't find anything on the UKBA site, so is it really happening? I wanted to clarify a few things. Basically, my husband and I are in Ireland. I'm a UK citizen and came to Ireland in Feb 2013 and have been self-employed since. We have applied ...

Hi Freda

Thank you for replying! If you could let me know that would be great. Right now, we are waiting for my husbands Ireland resident card, which is taking foreverrrr!

I'm not too worried about the docs being held up as my husband was in the UK previously so he already has everything there :)

How long does the resident card via surrinder singh usually take? I know it says up to 6 months or usually quicker on the site but what have people experienced?

Thanks! :)

Dependant visa - wife of tier 4 student

Hi guys I need some advice for a friend. Hes currently in the UK on a student tier 4 visa, for around 2 years. He wants to call his wife here so they applied for a dependant visa. It came back rejected after 13 days. It was rejected on grounds of no devotion to marriage and therefore not satisfied t...

Thanks Directive/2004/38/EC, I know thats the case in theory but do they actually go by that? You know how it is in the UK, strictly 'by the book'. So if I don't have proof of residency then they say I'm not ticking all the boxes. How long does it take to get a UK resident card under the surrinder r...

Thanks askmeplz82 I have been self employed in Ireland since Feb 2013 so it has already been 6 months for me, but my husband came in August. So its only been 3 months for him. I'm just worried about the proof we need for residency, as we are not renting. We have a letter from the homeowner for permi...

We applied and successfully got a UK family permit without a resident card. Wouldn't the same documents satisfy the EEA2 application requirements? And EEA2 is just a confirmation so why would they not issue it. We would be applying under the surrinder singh route.

What are the common refusal reasons applying via surrinder singh route?
We are a genuine couple and I have proof of 6+ months of business. Just worried about proof of residency in ireland as we never rented.

Hi ls67

Did you figure out whether its necessary to stay until you get a resident card? We are now thinking of moving back earlier and my husband wouldn't have got his resident card by then.

Are you planning on not getting the card? Have you read any recent success stories?

Hi I was wondering what proof we would need once we are back in the UK. It says on the EEA2 form that we need to provide proof such as utility bills, bank statements and tenancy agreements. We are currently staying at a friends house so we don't have a tenancy agreement or utility bills. We have tri...

Yes, we want to go UK in November for a little while, then return to Ireland. We are planning to move back to the UK (hopefully) in February after my husband gets his Ireland resident card. But once he enters UK in Feb (if his UK FP is still valid) what do we do if we want to leave at the end of Mar...

Need some advice

Thank you everyone for your help so far. Basically, we have applied for a UK family permit. We are currently in Ireland, I'm British and exercising my EU treaty rights here. Oh I see. Thats probably why. We went to the main INIS office in Dublin. It seems like the Garda in co cork are more educated! When did you arrive in Ireland? I'm also self employed and we have been trying to find a place to rent. We have been at a friends house and haven't paid rent so haven't got ...
