Re: BRP and new UKVI

she's been away for 6 months this year and she was away 3 months last year too. I guess when she returns she will have to wait a long time to apply for BC. Important to return before her BRP expires. it' has been 3 year and the address has changed and no recollection of the email I used to get ILR....

You can claim benefits after you have ILR. it won't impact a registration application for your child.
thanks you, but what does registration of child has to do with this please?

BC via Naturalisation and Child Benefits

I know claiming benefits is not seen kindly during immigration applications (no recourse to public funds etc).

but my wife already got ILR and going to apply for BC soon. but we are thinking of claiming child benefits.

will it affect her application in anyway please?

thanks

BRP and new UKVI

Hi all,

I hear in Youtube videos that BRP holders must create a UKVI account. my wife has a BRP that ends at the end of this year (ILR), she might not qualify for naturalisation as she got some abscence.

should I look to extend it or should I create this account and is there a deadline?

I had started to fill Naturaliation application for my wife and got upto the Referee section, then found out about the absences rule (the form did not ask any upto that point) and have put that on hold until wife meets the qualifying period. does anyone know how long t...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

thanks, as the guidance says, she has upto 179 days absence in the last 12 months (3 years absence is same as last 12 months). so I can time it to apply in a way that she is within 179 days? but she may have to be away from UK again. hence why wanted to know if she can apply from abroad and come bac...

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

the reason, can't submit now is she is due to fly out again next week, and will not hv sufficeint time to complete biometrics.

is there a limit on time that can be between date of application and date of submission of biometics?

thanks

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

thanks all.

only in the last year, she is been away for two months already and got plans to go abroad soon as well.

so, her absences in last year and 3 years are exactly same, as no travel outside UK for last year.

Re: Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

thanks all for the replies. I myself was ILR->BC, but I was a BC (British Citizen) when she was given ILR, so she is on 3 year route? the thing is I filled out form for her and got up to the stage where it asks for referee, but don't think it asked anywhere for details of time spent outside U.K. am ...

Applying for British Citizenship after ILR and time away from UK

Hi, My wife had ILR which is expiring in Nov 2024. She was contemplating applying for British Citizenship and has delayed till now. But, reading here https://www.gov.uk/apply-citizenship-indefinite-leave-to-remain seems like there is a requirement on time away from UK, I initially thought it only ap...

Re: naturalisation and time limit on tests

ok, will do that. cheers! one more question, is it ok to apply for naturalisation and go on a holiday abroad right? or is there any rule like only certain number of days can be spent outside? I know there is a weird rule that on the date of application 5 yr ago, you must hv been in the UK which I do...

Re: naturalisation and time limit on tests

actually in the nest page, it asks How did you get your results, but it has two options: ceritificate and reference.

I have the certiifcate in which there is a reference number, so which one do I choose?

if I select certificate, it seems I do not have to enter anything.
