Can my wife travel to Denmark (from UK) alone?

Hi I am from Denmark, and my wife is from the US. We got married in Denmark around 3 years ago, and have live in the UK together for about 2½ years. She has a UK Immigration Document that she got when we applied for visa. She has traveled to Denmark and back with me many times without any problem. W...

Need to file US tax while living in the UK?

Hi. My wife is a US citizen, and lives with me in the UK. She just started working last December, and therefore made around £150 from 1st january to 31st December 2014. I am from Denmark and have around £1000 income a month. Does she need to file taxes?

Re: What will happen to non-EEA wife if divorce?

It depends of how long you guys have been married. If you have been married for at least 3 years, she would be able to retain residence rights. For more information, please check section 5.4 of the following document: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/264951/...

What will happen to non-EEA wife if divorce?

Hi. I am from Denmark, and my wife is from the US. We currently live in the UK, and have done so for just over 2 years. If we divorce, will she be able to stay in the UK?

Re: British Citizenship for US wife of EEA-national

In the final year you should not be absent more than 90 days. Anything above that and you will have to apply for discretion. If absent for more than 180 days in the final year your application will be refused. Oh okay. My thought was that we could leave for a total of 3-6 months here in year 3, may...

Re: British Citizenship for US wife of EEA-national

I actually have another question... reading through the documents linked to by CR001, it says that in the 5 year period, one should not have been absent from the UK for more than 450 days. Does that mean that if we eg. move back to Denmark for 3-4 months, then to the US for 3 months, and then back t...

Re: British Citizenship for US wife of EEA-national

I think I read somewhere that one of the requirements of getting a British Citizenship is that you stay in the country afterwards. What if we decided to go to US or Denmark for a year or so after she got her citizenship, and then return again? Might that be a problem?

Re: British Citizenship for US wife of EEA-national

Is it correct that under these circumstances, the earliest we can apply for a British Citizenship for her is 5+1 years after we moved here (so about 4 more years)? Or is there a way that we can apply before? Yes, 5+1 unless you become British then she doesn't need the =1. No, there is no quicker ro...

British Citizenship for US wife of EEA-national

Hi. I'm from Denmark and my wife is from the US. We got married in Denmark about 2½ years ago, and moved to the UK just under 2 years ago. She has had an Immigration Document for about 1 year, that we got through the EEA2 application. Our goal is to get her a dual citizenship (US and UK) if possible...

Do we both need sickness insurance?

Hi. I'm from Denmark and my wife is from USA. We got married in Denmark, and have been living in the UK for about 1½ years. I hope that at some point (when we've been here for 5 years?), my wife can apply for a British Citizenship, giving her both an American and a British Citizenship. That should b...

Housing Benefits for wife of Economically self-sufficient

Hi. I'm from Denmark, and on a disability pension from there. My wife is from the US. We have been living in the UK since January 2013, and just got her EEA2 Residence Card back in October. She is looking for work, but so far no luck. I was wondering if we could apply for Housing/Council Tax Benefit...

Benefits okay after EEA2

Hi. My wife (from the US, I'm from Denmark) just got her EEA2 residents card, and is now looking for work. Can we safely apply for benefits for her and/or housing benefits/council tax support without risking her EEA2 status?

So I just called a different number (0845 010 5200 + 1 + 2 + 2) and got to talk to someone after a looooong wait. He pretty much confirmed what you have been saying. We have a right to stay here, and don't worry. He said I could still send a reconsideration letter (which is just a letter I write and...
