Re: Visa for family on medical grounds

Remember that even if you were to get a long term family visa for your mother in law, she can only stay in the country for six months at a time and she will need to be away for atleast six months. https://www.gov.uk/family-visit-visa/overview You can stay for a maximum of 6 months on each visit and ...

Re: British Registration through B(OS) application

It seems that you already have Pakistani citizenship, as apparently birth in Pakistan gives you automatic Pakistani citizenship, without regards to your parents citizenship. I'm afraid that it sounds like the B(OS) route is closed for you. Given that you have spent most of your life in the UK, espec...

Re: British Registration through B(OS) application

Was either of your parents a Pakistani citizen at the time of your birth? If they were, there is a good chance you have inherited Pakistani citizenship. If you have not inherited Pakistani citizenship, you may be able to request a letter from the Pakistani High Commission stating that you do not hav...

Re: Indicative Visa fees for 2015/16

Outflak1 is correct. The children will need to be registered using form MN1 after atleast one, preferably both, parent(s) have been naturalised. As a rule of thumb, children are registered and adults are naturalised. The difference is that children born in the UK are entitled to registration when th...

Re: British Citizenship through Descent

Do you have or have you ever had any other citizenship other than BNO? If you are of Chinese descent, China considers you a Chinese citizen, irrespective of the passport you hold. If you are not of Chinese origin and do not have and have never held any other nationality, you may be able to register ...

Re: ILR via Ancestry Visa - a few questions

I'm going out on a limb, so please don't take my word for it, but I was under the impression that only degree and post-grad courses taught in English were accepted as proof of English language. I doubt that a diploma, let alone a certificate course would have been accepted. In this scenario, I think...

@Jonf

There seems to be somebody else in a situation similar to your friend. You may want to contact them to find out how they progressed their issue.

Re: Financial requirement costs tory seats

I think the OP is significantly overstating the proposition. A significant proportion of migrants, if not the majority, of immigrants do not vote Tory anyway, so the Tories have nothing to lose. Then again, most immigrants are concentrated in seats that are currently Labour. So, again, nothing to lo...

Re: Surrender Indian Passport Certificate required

This is a question for the Other Countries forum, not for the General UK Immigration Forum. Can the mods please move the thread? To answer your question directly, the requirements for a surrender certificate only came up after 2010 (I believe). Given that you already have a five year X-visa, I think...

Re: Indicative Visa fees for 2015/16

I understand that the fees are exorbitant and way out of proportion to the actual cost of service provided. However, it is worth remembering that we are here by choice. We don't need to go down this path, especially as regards naturalisation (and getting OCI) if you have already got ILR. The total c...

On what basis are you applying for naturalisation? With whom are you applying for naturalisation?

As you are going via NCS, they will make copies and certify them. Just take the originals.

Re: How can graduating students stay in UK??

Found this online. It is very specific and will almost certainly not apply if your girlfriend is of Chinese descent (China considers all people of Chinese descent in HK as Chinese citizens, irrespective of whether they have a British passport or not). But worth a shot if that is not the case. http:/...

How long have you known her for? If it has been for more than two years and you have documentary proof (phone call logs, Skype logs, photographs of vacations together, etc),she could stay as an unmarried partner of a British citizen. It is harder than the marriage route, but something that you would...

Re: entry to exit. uk.

I believe (I could be wrong) that one of the conditions of the visitor visa is that the holder is in the UK for only 6 out of a 12 month period. Therefore, under your plan, they would need to stay in Paris or Ireland for 6 months. That could be quite expensive, more expensive than flying them to Kar...

Re: ILR — about my child born abroad and in the UK

How long have you been out of the UK? You can lose ILR if you have been out of the UK for two years or more. The immigration officer may question you about your stay out of the UK to determine if the ILR is still valid. Assuming that the ILR is valid and your wife and you are allowed into the countr...

Re: Can my parents move to the UK with me?

The circumstances that you have stated and their relationship to you do not give them any right to come to live in the UK. But given that they gave birth to you (I'm presuming that they are your birth parents) in the UK, perhaps they have some other grounds to have lived in the UK at that point in t...

Re: Travelling with a UK Settlement Visa

If the ILR spouse of a British citizen is traveling on their own to the EEA, they will need an appropriate visa. ILR is a status purely domestic to the UK and irrelevant to the EEA. However, if the ILR spouse is traveling with the British citizen or traveling to meet the British citizen within the E...

I'm afraid I'm a bit confused by the information provided by you. If your mother-in-law was British, your wife is British by descent (as mentioned by you). If she is British by descent, there is no ceremony to undergo. Simply apply for a British passport straightaway with documentation such as your ...

46. As can be seen, the general provisions in the 1971 Act regarding leave to enter and remain are expressly stated not to apply where a person is a British citizen. We do not consider that it is compatible with the scheme of that Act to regard indefinite leave to remain (or any other sort of leave...

Re: Name change for first time passport application

It might be simpler to get the British passport in your current name and then change it later on, given how much another person on these forums, on which you have commented, is having with just such an issue. http://www.immigrationboards.com/british-citizenship/british-passport-refused-t179624.html
