Only certain nationalities have the mandatory requirement of registering with the police: http://www.workingintheuk.gov.uk/working_in_the_uk/en/homepage/your_status/coming_to_the_uk_.html The rest can, but it's not mandatory. If it's mandatory for you to register with the police, the HO will have st...

Yes, I agree: Those who are younger in years (20s & early 30s) will probably not need £35K to achieve an extension, as they will qualify for age points.

This was a rather cheery article from earlier this week too:

My advice to all immigrants (Legal or otherwise): Don't get sick! Stay completely healthy!

Especially interesting when you use the "Location" pulldown to select averages by UK region.

I will be forwarding this link to the HSMP JR forum, as this clearly shows that IT professionals within certain regions are not making that elusive £35K needed for most HSMP applicant extensions.

I'd like to add one, if I may: 4. Find out as soon as possible if your employer can sponser you for a WP. Under new PBS, they will now consider HSMP (AKA Tier 1) -> WP (AKA Tier 2) for 5-Year ILR. Previously HO had warned that pulling a stunt like this would re-start our ILR clocks. Now they're sayi...

One more point to consider regarding human rights tribunals: When HSMP Extension cases went through the tribunal process and applicants won on human rights grounds, they were NOT given HSMP extension. Instead HO gave them a Discretionary Leave to Remain (DLR). We've been advised by HSMP JR legal cou...

We've just had a number of arrests here in town about a week ago. It was a round-up of illegals working at a restaurant. The papers reporting the story reminded employers about the £10,000 fine. I still think this is going to push illegals out of the legal marketplace and onto the black market. End...

The hearing for permission is this Friday 30th November (A little over a year after the changes took place). Hsmpforumltd is asking for more donations. I'll pass on the rumour in the other thread about a potential 7-year ILR coming on next year, see if there's any validity to this. Point being if we...

I heard that appeals which are won on human rights grounds are given discretionary leave by Home Office which means the person will be out of the HSMP status and will not be eligible for ILR. Ganshyam, I've heard similar stories to this recently on the other HSMP forums. We'd been advised on other ...

All of this legislation does not change the fact that there are hundreds of thousands of people illegally in the UK who still need to earn a living. Tighter restrictions on illegal working simply means that those illegal immigrants who were able to find work as cleaners or construction workers, alb...

ILR from 4 to 5 shouldn't be even be considered in the removal category at all. Ah, but you see many of those promised ILR at 4 years were then later told it would be 5 years. So they were told they would now need to get an extension. Then they were later told the extension rules had significantly ...

Ah, I think I see.

Do you mean those who are deported cannot re-enter, whereas those who are removed have the possiblility of being allowed to later re-enter (Provided of course they satisfy the new, ever-tightening stricter rules)?

It seems that more recently the Labour party have taken fright and are trying to reduce immigration back to lower levels, but characteristically are not making a very good job of it. Hence, back to ham-fisted efforts like the across-the-board 4 years to 5 change in rules. At least this makes the co...

Yes, I had gotten the definite impression that "1971" meant the OP's reputation, specifically and only with regard to any further attempts to obtain a Visa, might be damaged.

I agree that his/her public reputation would remain unbesmirched.

With reference to paragraph 24.9 of the HSMP guidance notes that applied as from 31 October 2003 and applied at the time you made the initial HSMP application, it states; What if the scheme changes? A. As with any immigration scheme we reserve the right to adapt some of the criteria or documentatio...
