Evidence Requirements for ILR

Hi, We received approval for our application for FLR yesterday yay and were checking to see what will be required for ILR. I came across an online application that had a checklist including utility/council tax bills for each year of my wife's stay. Surely this means for each year since the applicati...

There is no x months validity requirement for passports.

Thanks for that, I just spoke with the wife on the phone and your right the 6 months requirement wasn't mentioned by the Home Office but a friend. If i'd known I wouldn't have quoted it.

Re: Leaving and re-entering the UK near FLR app time

Just to update. My wife's father sadly passed away last weekend. She called the Home Office Helpline and they indicated that she can re-enter the UK as long as her BRP hasn't expired, although I gather she must also have at least 6 months left on her passport. So she is away now for the funeral, ret...

Re: Leaving and re-entering the UK near FLR app time

Ok thank you both. Based on what you have said (which confirms what I had thought) we will ensure that if she does decide to travel, she is back in the UK by February when we submit the FLR app.

Leaving and re-entering the UK near FLR app time

Hi, My wife's father is dying of cancer and she is keen to make an emergency visit to the Philippines to see him before he passes. The problem is her BRP expires at the end of March and we are due to submit her application for FLR in early March. Is she OK to leave and return to the UK this close to...

Re: UK Language Test Certificate - Advice please

Thanks, That sounds promising but we'll probably use UK NARIC to confirm a bit closer to the time. Although the UKBA accepted the certificate for LTR, they were only looking for ESOL A1. They might argue that as it was never accepted as an A2 level certificate it is not valid this time around, altho...

UK Language Test Certificate - Advice please

Hi, My wife will be applying for her FLR in a few months. When we applied for her LTR the language requirement was for ESOL A1. She had an ESOL A2 level certificate from an approved test centre which was accepted at that time. The requirements have now changed such that ESOL A2 is required, however ...

Schengen visa for portugal advice please

Hi, Not sure if this is the right place for this but. I'm a UK citizen and my wife is from the Philippines. She has a biometric residence permit/leave to remain. We are booked to go to the Portuguese Consulate in London next week and are struggling to find a definitive list of evidence to take along...

Re: FLR(M) waiting times

We submitted our application on 25 July and Biometrics on 1 August. Since then we haven't heard a word and the eight week deadline is fast closing in. Does the home office notify you by email or text when they are dispatching the results? Starting to worry that they may have sent some correspondence...

Re: 1st application for leave to remain

Hi, Thanks for your quick response. 1. Yes she is applying after being on a fiance visa. So are you saying that she should use her old surname (which matches supporting documents, e.g. passport, correspondence) or her new married surname? 2. Your comment is encouraging but the exact wording within t...

1st application for leave to remain

Hi, I wonder if someone could assist me with a couple of pointers. My partner and I are now married and are filling in the 'FLRM 04/2015' application form. 1. Should my spouse be using her prior surname throughout the application (i.e. the name on her passport). Normally after marriage the bride ass...

Re: Advice sought on visa refusal - philippines fiance

Well we have been successful now. The embassy were very quick to sort things out and my fiance now has her visa. Happy days! I have another question though. She is under the impression that she needs to buy a return flight ticket. The visa is 'marriage-settlement' so the intention is to apply for le...

Re: Advice sought on visa refusal - philippines fiance

Well, we had some encouraging news yesterday. An email from the embassy stating they will reconsider the application and asking for me to resubmit the payslips and for my Fiance to resubmit her passport within 10 days. So we are now very hopeful of a positive resolution. It's a shame my Fiance had t...

Re: Advice sought on visa refusal - philippines fiance

Thanks for the encouraging words rayking. My Fiance felt more comfortable going through the solicitor in the end so she has managed to borrow some funds and we have instructed the solicitor to proceed. I spoke to him briefly on viber earlier and he also thinks their is a good chance of it being reso...

Re: Advice sought on visa refusal - philippines fiance

Well I submitted a formal complaint to the UKBA this morning, so we shall have to see how that turns out. I guess the next step is the first tier tribunal. A solicitor advised us we have a good chance and mentioned costs of £600 if no court appearance was required and about £1200 if a court appearan...

Advice sought on visa refusal - philippines fiance

Hi, My fiance in the Phillipines has had her marriage/selltement visa rejected. The rejection letter states that the National Statistics Office in the Philippines did not confirm her annulment. We submitted her decree absolute with the application, which is all that they asked for. The decree was re...

Never mind, I worked it out, its form VAF4A and Appendix 2. We've had a stab at filling in VAF4a and the final question is: 9.1 is there any other information you wish to be considered as part of your application? Update: I used Barclarys online messaging system to send in a complaint (to ensure it got their attention), explaining everything that had occurred and that original statements were needed for a UKBA application and that £1000 would be lost if it was rejected. A few days later I received a phone cal...
