i didn't use a binder, but did separate the supporting documents by part and section. then i had a listing of all the contents overall and one for each section (which were paperclipped together). when i got my documents backed, they were all mixed up. i think as long as it's organised (papers are se...

the problem is they might expect you to already have a return ticket to Oz with 3 weeks left on your visa. and if you tell them of the HSMP application, they might prefer you to be an out of country applicant. i personally would go with option (a) if pressed for your travel plans, it sounds safest.

hi julia and zeke, thanks for the very helpful posts and links. i agree that julia's questions should be made a new thread - they make a good guide for people who are just about to travel to the UK on an HSMP visa. and it would be helpful if people who are already in the UK and have started on their...

They really should update their Guidance Notes! But this info is on their website: "It is no longer necessary to submit passports with an HSMP application. Passports should be submitted with form FLR(IED) after you have been notified of your HSMP decision in writing." http://www.workingint...

Hi zeke, this is an old pdf from March. I think in April or May (when processing times started to extend longer and longer), they changed the rules. You don't have to submit your passport for FLR until after you receive your HSMP approval letter. So I don't think you would have any problem.

good luck!! i hope you get it sorted out at the consulate. visiting lecturers/visiting professors are quite common at universities, i guess it doesn't make sense to have to apply for a workpermit for those positions. your school should have given you more information and letters to show immigration ...

It is ok to have WP application and HSMP. My HSMP got delayed when they asked for additional info. So my employer went ahead and started a WP application for me, just so there wouldn't be any more delays in case I get refusal. They stopped that process when I got HSMP approval. I also thought of jus...

Hi, I am wondering whether your lectureship could have been done on a business visitor visa (which is just a visitor visa really and since you are a US citizen, you don't need to have one in advance of the trip). But the school should have provided you with a letter to show immigration office. I rea...

i also just found this board recently, and wish i had before i made my application. i think it helped that i had a job offer so the caseworker was willing to request for further information, otherwise i probably would have been refused straightaway.

Re: Travel to the UK

Hi Ravi. If your application is already with HO for 6 weeks, you can ask for urgent processing (takes about two weeks from my experience). All you need to do is fax a job offer letter from your chosen company. If they can wait. Otherwise, just have them apply for the workpermit for you to travel and...
