You can apply using your temporary (friend's) address. Because the passport office (IPS) is going to look at your credit history with your list of addresses there, they will probably write you back asking for proof that you live in the address you stated – you can send them your latest bank and cr...

I know when I applied, NCS Cambridge used Special Delivery.
But I hope Swansea at least uses recorded delivery.

Fortunately, all NCS sends on your behalf are photocopies, not your actual passport.

Congratulations, npanglia!

I really liked your post, it is encouraging to me (currently jobhunting though we are in different fields) and I'm sure to a lot of people. It is important to stay positive, and as you say, stick with people who motivate you.

Did you apply as a new Tier1 in May 2008? Did you not just extend your HSMP visa? If it's an extension, even if your residence permit states "Tier 1-General", you are still covered by the JR. And your wife doesn't have to be here for 2 years to get ILR with you. I realize there are conflic...

Re: Passport enquiry after the ceremony

first question - just submit the current passport plus recent passport with ILR. uncancelled means still valid so enter the passport number of the current passport number second question - yes, it is the certificate you will receive at your ceremony. it says "certificate of naturalisation"...

Hi Pixi, Because you already have ILR, the new laws (which would not be in effect until July 2011) will not affect you. I'm sure there will still be more restrictive changes in the future, but again this should not apply to you. If you had a very long wait, I would say take the risk. But as John sai...

You cannot apply for a "right of abode" stamp once you have a British passport. It's one or the other. And yes, you can enter the UK on your other passport. And you would want to do that when the EU queue is very long. You can show their certificate of naturalisation as proof of UK citizen...

Would have thought you'd be better to wait until ~February 2011 (assuming you were in the UK in 5 years prior to that date) when your absences in the final year will be less than 3 months. I agree with above post. You can take your chances, but your case might take that long to decide anyway. In Fe...

No, you shouldn't. Judging from posts here, that takes a lot longer to process. WP is more straightforward.

The complaint shouldn't affect your application. Look at sections 3.5 to 3.12 of Form AN (for citizenship), nothing about complaints filed by other individuals. But it is good that you spoke to the police, not for citizenship's sake but just for your own peace of mind -- hopefully it will all be res...

Can I appy for British Citizenship without having ILR? I've been looking around but couldn't find the answer. I'm on HSMP (JR) and have completed 5 years already and can fullfil rest of criteria. the answer is on this UKBA website- http://www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk/britishcitizenship/eligibility/na...

Your interpretation is correct as far as I know. I believe you do need to mention all trips (entry/exits) but count days out in 1-2 day trips as 0. agree with Backer. include the 1-2 day trips in the table in section 2.2 (if it doesn't fit, you can add more pages). but on the "total number of ...

The last JR was rejected because at the time of hearing no applicant was affected with the rule. I still believe that this case can be won like HSMP plus every one on WP can also win the right to get ILR after 5 years. How come that nobody was affected? I would anticipate that the change from 4 to ...

You said your WP expired on 25 Oct 2005. While away from 17 Nov 2005 to Feb 2006, did you have a valid WP from the same company? If not, I'm afraid your clock restarted and you can only apply for ILR in Feb 2011. About LIUK test, book it ASAP. You can choose a date in the future, but it has to be mo...

Re: ILR tactics - Tier 1 instead?

It is not quite that uncivilised. If your ILR is rejected- You can appeal it. Or if your HSMP has not expired yet, you can apply for another Tier1(HSMP) extension. No need to make a whole new Tier1 application. Or if your HSMP expired and no appeal allowed, you will be given time to quit your job an...

I think so long as you stay in the UK, you can let it expire. But you should have an unexpired stamp when travelling abroad, you can't use it to enter the UK once it has expired. Yes, you submit it to UKBA and get a transfer of conditions. Btw, does it expire with your passport? from the link Vinny ...

Keep in mind that British citizens, even those with dual nationalities are suppose to leave and enter the UK on their British passport. I don't think this is true. Otherwise, they would have mentioned it on this document. http://www.ips.gov.uk/cps/files/ips/live/assets/documents/Passport_policy_-_D...

If you include the P45, you'll have to explain it because it causes a problem. If you left your company in Oct 06, that means your WP was already invalid after that. It broke your continuity. It is better to say you were on unpaid medical leave but still employed. Btw, was your HSMP stamped in the U...
