There is no limit on the number of PIO applicantions per day. Yes. You will get your British Passport back on the same day.

For PIO card there is no limit on the tokens. Go to the window issuing tokens to visa applicants. They ask you to go and stand in front of the door next to counter 6. No matter what time you get in, you will be seen only after 10.00. So better to get there between 9.30 and 9.45. That way you don't h...

It is interesting that when you get your OCI card they stamp your foreign passport. They did not do it when I got my PIO card. Does this stamping happen only for OCI?

It appears that HCI London do not keep track of cancelled passports. AFAIK they just cut off the edges and stamp "cancelled" on the passport and hand it back to you. So it should not really matter if you do that yourself.

That is a very useful info basis. Are there any email ids/ direct numbers one call to find out about issues about citizenship such as the one we discussed a while ago about conditions under which minors can have dual citizenship?

I had been to HCI London a week ago to apply for PIO card. I met a PIO card holder who got his OCI that day. Apparently he had to wait for only 2 weeks for his OCI. So if you are a PIO card holder you have a shorter waiting time for your OCI.

This from the FAQs from consular wing of the HCI web-site. Looks like there is some confusion about Indian citizenship laws. Do the laws of India provide, under any circumstances, for a minor of Indian descent to remain a citizen of India after acquiring by naturalization or registration British nat...

It looks a bit bizzare to me for minors who are registered as British citizens. As far as I am aware minors can have dual Indian and British Citizenships until they are 18. Once they turn 18 they have to renounce British Citizenship if they want to retain Indian Citizenship. The only restriction is ...

The HO might be carrying out a covert investigation and people might be under surveillance already. You never know. I would not expect HO to give a great deal of publicity if they have not identified everybody involved in the fraud. I would advise you to hang onto the copy of the complaint you filed...

Rebecca,

If you can prove that expertise of Chinese builders is needed for a very specialist job (ex. something very specific to chinese culture) and you cannot find people with equivalent skills in the UK then they have a very good chance getting work permit.

There is no such thing as transfer of WP. What you have got now is a new WP. Strictly speaking your WP and visa are valid as long as you have employment with the company which applied for it. You might get in through this time on your present visa but there could be problems when you apply for your ...

Before you jump into ESOL think of the other options you have. HO is quite liberal with certificates if they are convinced that your course was taught in English. When I was applying for my British Citizenship I sent my degree certificate as I did not have anyway of proving that the course was taugh...

I had sent off my application to the HO on the 13th of January 05. I got a reply from them a week ago advising me that my application has been successful. Along with my naturalisation my son's registration has also been successful. The letter says that my son and I will be invited to a ceremony and ...

IMHO I don't see IND treating your case as emergency. You can email IND and find out. They respond quite promptly.

I went through a similar situation a few years ago. I was lucky because the British High Commission agreed to provide my dependent with a visa even though my passport did not have a valid work permit visa stamp. It is always worth trying but remember you will lose your visa fee even if the visa is r...

I sent off my application recently and had this concern of getting referees to sign my application. I made sure that I gave the referees sufficient notice and also showed the guidline notes. I was very open with them. Fortunately for me both the people I asked agreed to sign my form. Have the people...

As promised earlier I am back with my experience. I landed in Gatwick yesterday and held out only my current passport that has the ILR ink stamp to the immigration officer. No questions were asked nor did the officer want to see the original ILR sticker on my expired passport. I was out in 2 minutes...

I spoke to IND and the people there don't seem to have a clue about this. What they told me is that they can only put an ILR sticker with the photo if my current passport did not have an ILR stamping. Since I have already got the old stamping I will have to wait until my current passport expires. It...

I am surprised that you did not get the letter along with your stamped passport. I would advise you to check with the IND. The letter is useful to get the new passport stamped if one loses his/her passport. IND specifically advises people to keep their Passport and the letter in separate places as a...

Applying for British Citizenship

Can one submit a single application for naturalisation and registration (of a dependent)? I have been trying to contact the helpline 01512375200 for a long time and haven't had any success. Also if somebody knows the answers to the following questions please let me know. 1. What is the fees for such...
