Understood. I wish they would consider such a case as I have lawfully spent five years in the country. Was told by HR it was safe to do but seems like extra six month wait.

I am employed so taxes are upto date.

It's 180 days for 5 years And you're a bit over the limit. However it's not shared set rule and there is a but of room for discretion so go ahead and apply with some explanation.
