Thanks a lot marie ... phew I was kinna assumed things will work out fine if she comes here as a visitor. Lucky I did not make that mistake, thanks guys for helping me out. I will look at immigration for family members section and see if she can come here as a dependant.

Olisun thanks mate, I think I we will try to apply for her dependant visa from HK itself because we want to spend this christmas together :) .. but I was just wondering supposed she comes here (as a visitor) and we get married here in UK instead then what ? I don't think you can switch from visitors...

my HSMP visa starts from the 1st of feb 2005 but my passport is expiring 04-11-2007 .. I cannot reissue a passport unless it is expiring within 6 months .. i am wondering after the first year how will the home office issue me a 3 year extension ??

Bani dude .. don't be disheartened .. you are on the safer side .. incase the ECO says that he issued the 6 months visa on purpose do ask him the reason and keep the letter it might be useful when you apply for your extension .. and if he says it was a mistake then you can get a one year visa .. so ...
