Re: First British passport application - early document return request

I was recently able to get my non-UK (French) passport back from Liverpool PO. (I needed it for dealing with the consulate of my original citizenship - I had to request some documents. And I was supposed to travel to France for work - short trip. I am not really an "essential worker" thoug...

Re: UK First Time Passport Application after Naturalisation

PO would not admit that they stopped "regular" passports processing altogether, but it seems they did. See for example: https://www.civilserviceworld.com/articles/news/hm-passport-office-pauses-return-work-plan-after-outcry My passport application is at Liverpool PO from 11/03, and I actua...

Re: **** COVID19 Biometrics appointments and UKVCAS ***** (Discuss here ONLY)

I do not see much of possible benefits if you apply now. The day of application is the day you submit online and pay, so 1) If you plan to travel after, those days will not be counted among 450/90 absences days (this might be not so important, given that very few people will be going abroad for now)...

Re: Petition to waive off citizenship fees for this year

I suspect such petition would have much more sympathy if you propose not to abolish the fees altogether, but to reduce them to actual processing cost, and remove profit part (which is about half of the fees). Many British families will now be under severe economic pressure, and hence it will be diff...

Re: British Passport delay

Ye-a.. They now ask people not to apply for passports unless their travel is essential (like bereavement or important business), and those applications are handled in a special way. It would not be a big deal to wait, except that UK is, it seems, the only country in the world which asks applicants f...

Re: EEA BRCs will be valid after Dec 2020 if used to successfully apply for the Settlement Scheme

I received a reply to my enquiry - but they did not answer my question! They just said "if you wish you can change the card", but not whether the current BRC will continue to be valid after 2020.. (I copy their reply below) Nyamebeye, may I as you how the process works? Did you have to sen...

Re: British Passport delay

I applied on March 9 (documents received by them on March 11) - Liverpool PO. The website says "processing", but I wonder whether they stopped. If they work from home, I do not see how they can do passports.. I do not really need a UK passport now, but they asked for ALL my other passports...

Re: EU Settlement for Parents of a Non EU Citizen (Asian) married to an EU Citizen

Let's see. There is now a new type of visa: if a EU citizen wants to bring direct (!) family members to UK, they can now apply for "EU Settlement Scheme family permit", instead of Family permit: https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/eu-settlement-scheme-family-permit note though that they still...

Re: EU Settlement for Parents of a Non EU Citizen (Asian) married to an EU Citizen

It is not clear whether parents are in UK already or not. Applying for pre-settled status from UK should be easy. But if they are still in Sri Lanka, getting Family Permit might be a pain indeed. Coming on tourist visa and applying for pre-settled status could be easier option. (I am not sure though...

Re: EEA BRCs will be valid after Dec 2020 if used to successfully apply for the Settlement Scheme

Oh, yes, I stated repeatedly in the conversation that my mother first got PR BRC, and then Settled status using this BRC. And they reiterated that this BRC will not be valid after 2020. I definitely will update if i learn more. In my case, I am trying to get temporary EU-route French residency paper...

Re: EEA BRCs will be valid after Dec 2020 if used to successfully apply for the Settlement Scheme

Well.. I called the 0300 123 7379 number, and was told that PR BRC would expire on 31.12.2020 (no matter the expiration date on the card), and we will have to apply for replacement before that. I also submitted online enquiry. Might it be that they prolong the validity for initial 5 years ones (corr...

Yes, "even though" Now, you are visa national, right? So when you applied for settled status, what document you used to confirm your identity? And what did you get from them as a confirmation of your settled status? If you are non-EU family member of EU citizen and you did not have PR card...

Re: Non-EEA partner of EEA citizen's Residence card lost - Anyone has any experience/advice?

Albanians do not need visa for Schengen countries, but do need visa to enter UK. Without visa or residence card they most probably will not be allowed to board the plane in UK destination by the air-company. If you are married or in official civil partnership, then if you somehow manage to arrive (t...

Re: From Switzerland to the UK

I would think it is much easier if both you and your husband apply for pre-settled status, not for EU RC. Here: https://www.gov.uk/settled-status-eu-citizens-families/what-settled-and-presettled-status-means You arrive, open joint bank account, find a job, and then apply with bank statement, letter ...

1. As far as I remember, they ask for your name at times of application there, but there is also a place for a type of application, no? 2. We submitted one letter signed by both parents stating that we consent for our children to get british nationality ("we, Mr X and Ms Y, born on that days, c...

Re: MiL naturalisation application - forgot to indicate age-related waiver for Life in UK test

It seems the form automatically recognises if a waver is applicable. I did not see it about age, but for example if one declares a citizenship of english-speaking country (at the beginning, when it asks for current citizenships) then the form does not ask for english test proof, just for a proof of ...

Re: EEA BRCs will be valid after Dec 2020 if used to successfully apply for the Settlement Scheme

Dear kamoe: Is there any official public reference to this rule? My mother has PR BRC (valid for another 8 years). And we used it to apply for her settled status. Until I stumbled at your post I believed we will have to apply for her to exchange this BRC for "settled status" card before th...

I actually went to prefecture in France with my mother, they accepted our documents, but we will be having the interview (!) in May to decide on her application as family member of EU. Hopefully it will work.. They even said that since both me and her have EU PR documents from UK we do not need to s...

FPN should be declared.
Most probably you do not need to mention PCN paid on time, if they were more then a year ago.

Re: Can a person's citizenship be taken away from them after long absence?

There were some cases recently when people obtained naturalisation, immediately moved abroad, applied for UK passport from abroad, and then they had trouble - as passport agency and Home Office questioned their "future intentions to leave in UK". But one only has to have such intentions at...

Re: Certificate correction - timing, contact HO ?

So: I sent them both email and a regular mail to the same address where I sent certificate. Yesterday, on Thursday 5/06 I received a call from HO - they said they just got to deal with my request, amended certificate and sent it back on Wednesday 4/06 (they even apologised for delay). Today, on 6/03...
