Dawie, thank you so much for the brilliant break down of my options, that is such a help and you make it very clear what the possibilities are and I just need to decide the best. Do you know what the effect of spending 1 year residing continuously in Australia, now at the beginning of my 4-year HSMP...

Question about ILR

Hi, I have been resident in the UK for just over 2 years - first year on a working holiday visa, and then a year on HSMP. I have just renewed the HSMP for the next 4 years. For the entire time I have been resident in the UK I have lived with my British girlfriend. My question is am I able to apply f...

Thanks everyone for the replys - just one last question... does the leave to remain then begin from the date the application is approved, or from the date of HSMP approval???

Thanks!

FLR(IED)

Hi,

I am currently in UK on a working holidaymaker visa, due to expire July 2006. I recently got HSMP approval, so have to submit FLR(IED) form.

My question is, how long do I have to submit this form???

Any help appreciated!

Guest_11, I applied for HSMP but didn't send job offers/request for urgent treatment, etc. as everyone else seems to, so basically they never dealt with the application. Eventually I requested my documents back as I got tired of spending hours trying to get through on the phone only to be told 'ah y...

I don't think it was a problem with the postal service - although there was a problem with them too - basically they claimed to have left a card for me to come and pick up the documents but I never got it (despite always getting cards in the past). I had phoned the HSMP team and they said it had bee...

Return of documents

Just wanted to share with everyone the return of my original documents 1 YEAR after I had originally submitted them. The home office returned them to me in an UNSEALED envelope (torn and battered) with an elastic band put around them. There were 3 degree certificates inside which had been sent in pe...

many thanks mwazir for your reply, however, the switching rules have recently changed for WHV holders especially with regard to switching to work permit employment - your occupation now has to be on the shortage list. I was wondering whether this restriction also apllies to switching to HSMP.

Recent changes to WHV / HSMP

Hi, I am on WHV and applied for HSMP in June 04. I notice there have been changes made to the rules for switching status from WHV recently. My question is this - If I am successful in my HSMP application, can I apply for FLR from within the UK based on this, if I am currently here on a WHV issued in...

Richsam, As far as I understood, the changes to WHV regs state that you cannot change status to Work Permit whilst on WHV unless on the shortage list. You may still switch to HSMP. Actually, reading the paragraph again.. ' may now only switch into employment in the following categories: Innovators, ...

Yeah... why does the HO continue to publish on a weekly basis, that applicants should allow 26 weeks from date of application for HSMP. I am heading for the EIGTH month since application. Does this mean the HO has made a decision, and then my originals have been posted back and lost or not? Who know...

yeah but we know what they're not doing... processing HSMP applications. Does anyone know how to withdraw an application and get your originals back given that it is impossible to phone or e-mail the HSMP team? i applied end of June and am beginning to give up hope that they will ever get past proce...

I agree the processing times are absolutely ridiculous... I applied in June at which time it would allegedly take 3 months. Since then the HO has had all my original documentation (degree certificates, transcripts, professional certificates, salary slips, and so on and so on), and I have not heard a...
