I have just received my Biometric Residence Permit for Indefinite leave to Remain. Thanks for your reply.

He has gone there on a H1-b visa (US work permit) and his UK residence status is my dependent.

I know one has to prove that they intend to make UK their main home; hence my question. Any thoughts?

I dont think so; in my case letters from ex-employers were obtained earlier (in feb itself) when I left that job. But they accepted those letters. So date should not matter much as long as matter is correct.
