Re: marriage of convenience vs gen & subsisting relationship

If you can build up a good case to show the relationship prior to the wedding is genuine and subsisting then there shouldn't be a problem.

In my case we submitted our documents 1 week after the marriage and was successful first time.

I would personally keep all application documents, the 6 months worth, at one location, right up to the point of applying. Add in an additional section within your application pack documenting your proposed/new living accommodation - proving this is your new accommodation. Deeds/ Tenancy agreement e...

Your assumptions are correct. My wife took a Cambridge ESOL KET Exam to meet the requirement for the initial spouse VISA. I recently asked if the new requirement of english is required after the first 33 months when you have to extend, FLR (M), and the answer is still no, the higher requirement is o...

Indeed calling them would be easier, I did this and they told me to write to them.

Inevitably I am yet to have a response or acknowledgement of receipt

Good luck!

How about for the first flr (m) extension visa? Not due until early 2016 under the new rules but would the new English rules apply for flr (m) or a SET (M) only as things currently stand?

Initial Spouse VISA to FLR (M)

Hi there, Just a quick clarification. I have some friends who are going through the process for their first FLR(M) after being given the 1st 33 months visa, pre July 2012. They are obviously rounding up all the necessary info to show they still meet the requirements, but they also mentioned that the...

Although my wife now has a valid VISA her record has been marked as someone with poor immigration and everytime we go through the border she is confronted with further questions and doubt of legitimacy from the UKBA official which causes dela...

Ok understood. Looks like long trips back to sunny blighty for when needs be then. The plan would be then to get a place before we go and rent it out. This, for application purposes, would be our UK home and a place we'd always intend to settle. With this and family links /correspondence /holidays i...

Yes I'm struggling to find the right pages on the UKBA website which goes into this area. So to extend could my wife travel back, obtain FLR, then travel back again, or would i need to go back each time too? Not a problem if i needed to. Is there a limit to the number of times you can apply for FLR ...

I hope it's as simple as the fact the guy was out of order, just didn't expect it and didn't expect a stamp to go on the actual VISA page either. I hope that's it, I'll make more enquiries into it, but from the form there is no way of tracing it back to the immigration officer. We're going to France...

Spouse travelling to UK border control trouble

My wife returned to the UK today with a spouse VISA stamped into her passport. At border control at Heathrow she was put to one side and questioned over and over about how she came about the visa, asked about me (husband), told her that they couldn't believe she got a VISA, then told her they were d...

Talking from my experiences, and as said above, they do not stamp you out but they will make a note of your passport number and previous VISA number which is stamped into your passport upon entry to the UK. They also asked a few questions about my wife's stay but as long as you have answers they won...

The general rules for a spouse VISA is to apply from your home/resident country. Under a spouse VISA application your overstay should be disregarded so long as you and your sponsor meet the requirements. My wife and I recently applied, albeit no baby on the way, from her home country, she had also p...

This link ought to help you. The crux of it is that you can use the new and old passport together, or you apply for a separate BRP card for a fee.
