Relative arrested for overstaying visa. What now?

A relative of mine was arrested in London for overstaying his visa today. What will happen to him now? How do I get in contact with him? He does want to go back and I could easily book him a flight back home. I don't know who to contact or what to do. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.
