English Language Requirement. ILR to Naturalization process

Naturalization application form has two questions on your Degree Certificate. 1. What was the medium of language of your degree and, 2. Whether you can use it for proving English language requirement test. It is bit confusing as I have already mentioned in the form that I have passed English languag...

Re: Citizenship related clarifications

Thanks for all the inputs. It seems not worth the risk especially if British government can cancel the citizenship retrospectively and I may end up stateless as Indian Citizenship is automatically cancelled after issuance of Naturalization certificate. I will delay my Ceremony as much as possible or...

Re: Citizenship related clarifications

It depends on your passport. Based on your flag, you wouldn't be able to travel back to the UK on an Indian passport as you wouldn't have a valid visa. You would need to use your newly issued British passport. If you are an Indian national, you would immediately lose Indian citizenship upon acquiri...

Re: Citizenship related clarifications

Can I ask a follow-up question on the point 2 of original post? If I travel on non-British passport after the ceremony and once the British passport is issued to me, can I re-enter the country on that passport even though I didn't use it to travel out of UK.

Earliest date I can apply for BC if ILR granted on 01-Nov-21

I want to apply for BC as early as possible. My ILR was granted on 01Nov21 and assuming I meet all other conditions, when I can submit the online application get the appointment date? I know it is 12 months criteria but technically can you apply few weeks/months early?

Have you had settlement in the UK? - BC Application for Child

I am filling the online British Citizenship application for self, spouse and my child. All three of us have ILR and are currently non-EU citizens. In the online form, in child's section, one of the starting question is that have you had settlement/settled-status in the UK ? Just want to confirm that...

Re: British Citizenship application while working abroad

Thanks very much for your detailed replies. Eligibility on the grounds of Spouse Citizenship was based on my assumption that family will stay back and apply for British citizenship before moving to Switzerland. But looks to me that not worth the risk and hassle. I am planning to join my potential em...

Re: British Citizenship application while working abroad

Thanks for sharing the article. It says that you can be eligible for citizenship if your spouse has one, if certain conditions are met per section 6(2) which I am struggling to understand completely. Also, the whole point of the exercise is that I see the role in geneva as a temporary one, a step on...

British Citizenship application while working abroad

Hi, I live in UK for last 10 years with my Mrs and a 4 yr old. We got our ILR last year (Nov 2021) and currently hold Indian passports. Both myself and Mrs are in permanent jobs with decent salaries and own a house in UK. We will be eligible for British citizenship in Nov 2022. I have got a job offe...

Re: Tier 2 gap in employment

Thanks. Understood. I thought cooling off applies only for Tier 2 ICT only but def that's not the case.
I am reading that there is a high earner category on which cooling off doesn't applies. Is it true ? Base salary threshold is 159k or 120k?

Tier 2 gap in employment

I am on Tier G visa since Dec 2016. I have a potential offer from another employer in UK but due to noncompete reasons I will have to switch to a third employer before joining them. I am evaluating the possibility of joining a 'dummy' employer in India and then make a fresh Tier 2 G application unde...

Re: Priority service - No reply yet... should I be concerned

I received my Visa and other documents after 6-7 weeks. I applied through Priority ie same day delivery service.
I went to their public enquiry office and complained about the delay and lack of communication from Home office. Not sure if it had any impact though.

Re: Priority service - No reply yet... should I be concerned

Today I received a communication from Home Office to my official complain on the delay to priority service. Unfortunately, the response says the case is under investigation and enquiries are made to other departments and it's taking longer then expected. So, once your case falls under investigation ...

Re: Priority service - No reply yet... should I be concerned

Unfortunately, I'm not aware of the interview scenario. I have heard that Home office is tightening the noose on Umbrella firms which provide Tier 2 visa and then shop the candidate to third party employers.

Re: Priority service - No reply yet... should I be concerned

Well. I got a letter saying that my application raises 'exceptionally complex issues' and that they need more time to make a decision. Now I feel really scared since I've read on the forums that normally another letter follows with an interview appointment. Anyone with a similar situation? What cou...

Re: Apr 14 Change in Rules - Switching from T2 ICT to T2G

@manci thanks v much for such a prompt response. I should definitely forward your advise to the HR. Though I'm bit worried of what could be the reason for this delay. My employer has quite a few employees on ICT and HR mentioned that visa extension applications were never delayed in the past. one m...

Re: Apr 14 Change in Rules - Switching from T2 ICT to T2G

Hi All, I would like to discuss my visa application case which is pending decision at home office. Would highly appreciate suggestions. 1. I submitted in-country premium service visa application on 20-May-15 at Home Office, Croydon centre. 2. The application is for switch from Tier 2 ICT (long term ...

10 months in advance for UK General visitor visa

My mother-in-law who stays in India wants to visit us next year while on her way back from 6 months US visit. As she intends to apply for visa from India, we are planning to make an application in September 2013 for travel dates in May 2014. Is this arrangement permissible under 6 month UK General v...
