Can't the embassy certify them? (unless you're posting them) My embassy certifies everything there and then when you hand documents over to them.

Congratulations!

What an ordeal! Well done, the key is to keep a cool head and be prepared (apart from the jacket ripping incident!) you had basically done your research, were able to provide all the evidence they wanted to see, luckily your college was nearby!

Re: Question Time ...

I think the question will catch the eye of many ordinary people and politicians if we compare our issue with current hot topic 'Deportation of Illegal Immigrants'. Question should be like this , - Why is govt imposing unfair and retrospective rules on HIGHLY SKILLED , LAW ABIDING , TAX PAYING , HAR...

Does it mean, in theory I should not be in UK the date the work permit is issued? How will they know? Theoretically yes, but I know of people who were in the country when their WP's were issued, in fact they even picked up the WP from their future employers, returned to their home countries applied...

I am confused because of the VAF1 form. The question, have you been refused a visa to UK before? I am curious which category it comes under-permit or entry clearance? If a visitor entry clearance is refused does it mean a visa is refused? How about entry to UK? Is it the same?or is 'entry to UK' is...

Must admit I am in the same situation as you, I had a look on the US embassy website and there's no indication on there that if you had a previous non-VWP passport, and now a VWP passport (UK), that you have to actually do anything. Would be nice to get that confirmed though, apart from a very expen...

And, should one wish to change jobs, the future employer can doubtless assume the same thing? Who cares what the employer thinks? It doesn't change the fact that you have ILR, as the big reddish visa sticker in your passport says. Besides, I have yet to find an employer who has any idea what an imm...

Why should an immigrant married to a briton get ILR in 3 years while the one on WP/HSMP has to wait 5 years... Actually an immigrant married to a Briton gets ILR in 2 years , and once they have ILR is eligible for Naturalisation as soon as they have been legally in the country for 3 years , to incl...

Many trusts are now only considering applications from UK/EEA nationals first before even considering other nonEU doctors who dont need a work permit (ie HSMP, dependents, and also those with ILR). I would take that as being blatant discrimination, and therefore should be held accountable for that.

Hello some one told me that a 1000 pounds is going to be charged for a visa, is that just a rumour. also i heard that the duration for HSMP visas is going to be changed to 2 years, after 2 years the HSMP holder would have to get another 2 or 3 years HSMP visa, is that true or another rumour? Sonal, you say you started work on the 18th March 2002 and your passport was stamped 22nd April. Based on that, it means you were already in the UK, what status did you have? I am assuming you switched your status from whatever it was to WP employment on that date. Which means you would have sent al...

Re: ILR after 2 years

No doubt these news will come as a disappointment to those here on HSMP whose 4 year period comes up after April 2006. I guess those who are on the 3 year extension will need to make another FLR application for atleast 1 year and yet the Govt is proposing to give ILR to tier 1 applicants after only...
