Re: Tier 2 Query

Thank you so much. Yes, I'm still in the UK and my visa hasn't been curtailed (well I have not received the letter even though I stopped work in January..)

Could the fact that the home office hasn't curtailed my visa make things easier for the sponsor?

Many thanks!

Tier 2 Query

Hi, I worked for a company until January 2015 (they sponsored me for the Tier 2 General visa) and they notified the home office that my contract ended in January. Now they want to hire me again for a different position. They have completed their own selection process but haven't done the RLMT. The f...

Re: End of Employment and New Position Application

Thank you so much Manci And Happy Christmas! No, my company is not an umbrella company. My final question is how long does the sponsor (my company) have to report the end of my employment to UKVI? Is there a maximum period (unofficial websites mention 10 days but I can't find anything in the gov.uk ...

Re: End of Employment and New Position Application

Thanks Manci! I think the SOC code will be the same but the job title a little different (is a new role they are creating). My Tier 2 visa currently expires in Sep-2016 but my contract ends 7 January 2015 (so the company will be reporting the end of contract to UKVI in early January). If they want t...

Re: End of Employment and New Position Application

Many thanks for the reply. It will not be the same job, it will be a totally new role they are creating - so will they necessarily have to to a RLMT? Also, I'm worried there will be a gap between the 7 January and the start date for the new job, so in terms of timing, when will they have to notify t...

End of Employment and New Position Application

Hi, I have a Tier 2 General visa and my employment is ending on 7 January 2015 because the project I was working on has ended. The company is planning to create a new position (in a different department to the one I've been working in) in January-February 2015, and they would like me to take it beca...

Re: Academic progression - Query

Thank you for the quick reply. It's not good news though :( The 5-year cap is not a problem because I only had a student visa for 1 year. Currently I have a Tier 2 (until 31 December 2014). Do you think it's worth trying? Anything I could do to improve my chances to get the Tier 4 for another Master...

Academic progression - Query

Hi, In 2009-2010 I completed a Master in International Development, for which I had a Tier 4 Student visa. Now I'm planning to do a Master in Art History (career change) starting September 2015, for which I will also need to apply for a Tier 4 visa. Could you please advise on the academic progressio...

Cooling off period query

Hi, I've been working under a Tier 2 visa since 2013 but my employment will finish on 31 December 2014, so I think my visa will be curtailed to February 2015. My plan is to stay in the UK until February 2015 and go back to my home country in March 2015. From my country I will apply for a Tier 4 visa...

Re: Can I travel outside UK while Tier2 visa is curtailed?

Thank you so much for your response! To avoid any problems I'll stay in the UK until the date my visa is curtailed to (I'm assuming it will be around March..). I'd like to use this time to do a 'short course' (non degree, only 2 hours/week) for 11 weeks starting in January 2015, do you think I am al...

Can I travel outside UK while Tier2 visa is curtailed?

Hi, My Tier 2 Visa expires in 2016 but my job contract ends 31 December 2014 so I my company will notify the change to the UKBA in early January and they will curtail my visa. I'm planning to go to Italy on 7 January 2015 for a week and come back to the UK. Then, go to Spain for 2 months and come ba...

Can I work while I'm waiting for Tier 2 decision?

Hi, my PSW visa expires on the 20th October and I'm sure by then I will not have received the Tier 2 general (my company is still in process of preparing the sponsorship and it seems that I will be applying at the end of September). My question is: Can I continue working from 21st October? From this...

PSW switching to Tier 2 - SOC Codes Query

Hi, I have been offered a job as Officer and the organisation (an NGO) is willing to sponsor me for the Tier 2 visa. I've been reading the Codes of Practice and the job title 'Officer of non-governmental organisations' is NQF level 3 but the job tasks under that job title don't really match my job d...
