Well, if your RC has already expired then it's best to apply for PR now and later request return of passport. Don't attempt to apply for PR without original passport!

Cheer up!

If "it is definitely not for convenience" then you've nothing to worry about. Nobody can stop you becoming a family member of an EEA national after divorce with your current spouse. If UK cancelled your visa and you have to return to your country of nationality then you can marry there.

If you became eligible for permanent residence under EEA regulations only in Feb 2013 then you'll be eligible for naturalisation only in Feb 2014. can we send the passport back to have it printed into the passport once granted on A4? Your RC on ISD (A4) is just as valid as in your passport. There is nothing to worry about.
