Re: Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI)

Can those who have recently recieved their OCI tell us please if the U visa is still being stuck to British passport ? As per MOEA the U visa has been dispensed with. But are we still following the old rule or it is just the OCI booklet sent with no changes to British passport ?

Re: Suggestions needed- applying for ILR with 192 days abroa

Usually UKBA looks into the absences issue only if it is more than 180 days per year. 1. The 180 days calculation is per year and each year is worked backwards from the application date. You have not specified the exact dates. But if the absences fall within the feb/march period then the 194 days wi...

Re: PAN Card

I have read elsewhere in some other forums that applying for PAN card from outside INDIA has been a cumbersome process and sometimes takes a lot of time. IF you are planning to go to INDIA and have income source in INDIA then best is to go to INDIA and apply for PAN card with OCI as your ID proof. T...

Re: unpaid holidays

Hi, These are my opinions since I too had a similar case long back and now I am a British citizen. I had to leave UK for a period of 20 days since my mother was terminally ill and she had to be hospitalised urgently. If your employer is ready to give a letter then I feel there is no need to worry. Re: When can I resign after being granted ILR?

Once you have letter of grant of ILR then ,yes, you are not bound by the employer for your leave to stay here in UK.
I would just wait for a few more days until the BRP arrives and then inform the employer.

Brilliant :D Thanks for your reply A small heads up if you are thinking of using Check-and-Send service, some Post Offices have ill-informed staff, like in my case they insisted on grandparents DOB, Marriage and City details, even though I tried clearing but to no avail, so I asked for a paper and ...

Re: Will renouncing British citizenship cancel my ILR?

B1) This person later regains Indian nationality, renounces BC and obtain a new indian passport. Will the person be allowed to apply for a TOC – from old Indian passport to new passport? ILR is kind-of lost if you stay outside UK for more than 2 years and I suppose (for INDIANS) you have to stay in...

Re: ILR Bank statements HSBC

You can drop-in to local branch and ask them to send the statement for last 6 months to the branch. Once it arrives in branch (usually 3 days and so advance planning is needed) you can go and get it from them [or have it posted to your home address free of cost but I do not recommend this since if i...

Re: can i play for OCI or PIO VISA

Current rules allow a person to apply for OCI on the basis of spouse citizenship

BTW there is no such thing as of now called PIO. PIO is scrapped and only thing available is OCI(OIC)

Re: NO U visa for OCI anymore

since there is no U visa anymore, people who apply for OCI do they need to send their british passport original when OCI is approved ?
All that needs to be done by CGI is that they have to send the OCI cards with the U visa sticker in them

There is no information about this anywhere
