Re: Travel from N.I to Ireland for flights. Visa needed?

Drop a line to INIS: visamail@justice.ie Or the GNIB within the Garda: GNIB_DV@garda.ie. When I was contacting the GNIB about 'transiting' (as I called it) via Dublin en route back from Copenhagen to Belfast, I was told that I was not actually 'transiting' as no flights exist between Dublin & Be...

Re: Renouncing British Citizenship to use EEA FP route

That story sounds familiar!! Don't worry...there's always the Irish spouse visa as another option! Hey Clive! Just to clarify the Irish spouse visa ... is this when an Irish citizen, living in the UK, applies for a spouse visa for their non-EU citizen? ... Which under the new proposals would mean h...

New EU deal: Free-movement rights gone?

"The agreement confirms measures to deny free-movement rights to nationals of a country outside the EU who marry an EU national, as well as action to tackle the use of sham marriages to gain residence rights."

Does this mean that the EEA route is now, effectively, closed?

Re: Irish citizen to use EEA route

Hi all, Have been reading posts on the forum for a while now but finally decided to join and ask a few questions. I have read a lot on the EEA route but so much of the posts here are related to British citizens using it. I am an Irish citizen (not dual British etc) and I want to use this route also...

Hey chaoclive! Good to hear from you! (I sent you a PM last week, not sure if you got it or not)? I didn't want to mention you by name without having permission. Who said that the ROI was part of the Commonwealth? Can you point out where I specifically said that? I was simply pointing out my right, as an Irish citizen, to vote in UK elections. I am very well aware of where the rights derive from. Chaoclive being a citizen of the Republic of Ireland I am int...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

And citizens of the Republic of Ireland Ireland is not a part of the Commonwealth of Nations. It could not wait to get out of it when it was created. Indeed, I do not think it even joined it in the first place. The rights of Irish citizens in the UK derive from a different UK statute. Apparently, t...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

That is exactly my plan. I'm only planning for the worst case scenario - if my naturalisation application is rejected. From 2003 Finland has allowed multiple citizenship: A new Finnish Nationality Act permitting dual (and multiple) nationality more broadly than before came into force on June 1, 200...

Re: UK EU IN OUT REFRENDUM CONFIRMED SUMMER 2016!!!!

This is what worries me. My mother was British and I have spent over 24 of my 26 years in the UK. I grew up here and have no ties to my country of origin and I speak none of the language. I don't claim any benefits, and since finishing education here I have always worked full time in a good job. Su...

1) With an Irish passport (though born in Northern Ireland – UK) could I claim my EU nationality and then bring my husband (once married) to live with me in the UK without the £18,600 restriction coming into force? YES. THIS HAS WORKED FOR ME (ALSO NORTHERN IRISH) AND QUITE A FEW OTHERS. YOU WILL S...

Returning an EEA Residence Card to the Home Office

Hi there

A quick one: when a non-EEA citizen who has held an EEA Residence Card as the family member of an EEA citizen himself becomes an EEA citizen, should their RC be returned to the Home Office? Is it necessary to send it back or can we just forget about it?

Cheers
