German visa for Chinese citizen (under EU Treaty Rights)

Graham Just a quick question if you have time. When you applied for the entry permit for your wife, did you do so in Beijing? Did you have any issues with the German Embassy there? They have asked me if I want to stay in German permanently (of course I said that I am exercising EUTR by looking for a...

Seeking Mandarin Chinese Jobs

Hi there

I'm a British/Irish citizen who would be interested in hearing about jobs that require fluent Mandarin in the EU (especially Ireland/Spain/the Netherlands).

If anyone has any information about this, I'd be really grateful.

Best wishes

Just had another useless answer from the Embassy. They just asked me to see their website (which doesn't even mention moving back to Ireland from another country with your spouse/civil partner). All I wanted to ask was the address thing (no address in the State; temporary residence in hotel for the ...

Spouse Visa

Thanks for all your answers guys! I'm now toying with the idea of having my partner apply for an Irish spouse visa (obviously unrelated to the UK and EC Treaty Rights). Dual N. Irish (Irish/Brit) citizen working in China. UK Civil partnership registered with Chinese national in 2011. Couple of quest...

Irish Spouse Visa application outside Ireland (China)

Hi there I'm back for some more advice! Please excuse my long/confusing post. I'm a dual Irish/British citizen (born in Northern Ireland) with a Chinese civil partner and currently living in China (we got our partnership in the British Embassy in Vietnam, 2011). I really want to go back to Europe to...

Obviously he, like myself, is a dual national with 2 citizenships (Irish/British). I'm guessing you're thinking about the EEA Treaty Rights... If so, after the results of McCarthy, he would not be able to rely on his Irish citizenship to help you apply for a visa in the UK. Nor would he be able to r...

They will definitely require his passport photocopy...otherwise, how can you prove he is an EU citizen?

@ Mod: Sorry for starting a new thread on this... I see! But I still remember there was a judgement about this. Perhaps it was in relation to Surinder Singh in the UK? About not having to prove that you are exercising treaty rights on the return back to the UK after a period of employment in another member state. The German Embassy in Beijing is re...

Case law re: 3 month entry without proof of exercising EUTR

Hi there A really quick question. Can anyone provide the name of the Case and it's relevant judgement that says that an EU citizen moving to another state (e.g. British moving to Germany) does not need to prove that he/she is a 'qualified person' under the Directive on Free Movement for the first th...

Better safe than sorry... That way I would be in complete compliance of the EU Directive (i.e. not working a country of which you have citizenship). That way there would be no way that I would face problems later! Renouncing Irish citizenship is no big deal (quick, cheap process and the option to ge...

Stuts Thanks for this information. I guess my situation would be quite like you. Unfortunately, I don't have the resources to fight a battle in court and definitely don't have the resources to sponsor my partner under a spouse visa. It looks like the only option is renouncing Irish citizenship first...

Thanks for your help :)

I'll probably go with applying for the Irish equivalent of the EEAFP due to being a British citizen, rather than a British EEAFP as an Irish citizen.

The British Embassy seems pretty clear that dual British/EEA citizens can't apply for EEAFPs for their partners.

Any dual British/Irish Northern Ireland citizens there?

Hi guys I'm looking to find dual British/Irish Northern Irish citizens who have been successful in relying on either of their 2 citizenships to sponsor their non-EEA family member (in my case, Civil Partner) to come to the UK or Ireland. I'm interested in people who have applied post-McCarthy. I'm c...

confused

Thanks for this. It's starting to sound much more complex than I expected  We don't have kids and are currently living out the EU area...not sure if the 2 cases above would apply. I need to get him an EU entry visa first (probably easiest from the Irish Embassy in Beijing as a British citizen).

Family members of British nationals who meet the requirements of Regulation 9 are treated as family members of EEA nationals for the purposes...

Timelines for renouncing Irish citizenship for EEAFP (Singh)

Hi there I am currently residing outside the EU with my Chinese civil partner (fully registered civil partner, August 2011). I was born in Northern Ireland and hold both British and Irish passports. I plan a move back to the EU and, finally, the UK. Due to the previous changes stamping out the use o...
