Why lock the thread? You seem to show a disproportionate interest in locking threads when the discussion isn't going your way. Ol7max, discussions certainly don't have to go my way - but I suppose they have to kept to a certain degree of cordiality between the interested parties. I don't see what g...

I don't think you can separate the view that someone holds from their character. If someone feels so strongly about an opinion that they are willing to air it in public then they should accept that both their opinion and themselves are fair game for an attack. I accept and take this risk when I air...

Guys, with all due respect to all, everyone's entitled to their own opion. When we state our views in a public forum, we are surely opening up for discussion (or at least opinions we don't necessarily agree with), and should accept the fact that there are (or respect) different points of views. And ...

What I personally find ironic is the fact that we, immigrants, CHOOSE to come to the UK and then start slagging off the locals who are on benefits, which they are entitled to.

Maybe then we should decide to migrate to a country where there is no social security net for people to fall on.

Provided that you have all supporting docummentation of your legal 10 year stay period, I do not see why you should pay an additional amount of money for something that you can do. And the immigration officers will certainly not be any more lenient because you're applying via an agent. Other views?

As I wrote before, if your children were born in the UK since 1 Jan 83, you can now apply for them to be registered as British citizens. Any new children born whilst you are an ILR holder will automatically be British. If your children were not born in the UK, you need to get ILR for them. Form for ...

Dado, I guess the fact that the application is still under consideration is good news. If I were on your shoes, I would book an appointment with my local MP, and request his/her help with the Home Office. Go, explain the situation, and ask him/her to write a letter of support of your case to the HO....

you have settled status and are no longer subject to immigration control I beg to differ - ILR holders are subject to immigration control. They cannot stay more than 2 years outside of the UK, and are not able to use the EU/UK queues at airports. Everytime they come back into the UK they will still...

I could just enroll for a course in england (which could be really expensive since I'm not an EU citizen so I'd have to pay crazy money to enroll) You would not pay a lot of money for English courses - you could try and sit for the First Certificate Exam (Cambridge University) or Proficiency (also ...

Richard, 1) To apply for a visa you will need to fill in form VAF2 - Settlement. http://www.fco.gov.uk/Files/kfile/vaf2_nov_2005,0.pdf 2) The link below contains the explanation of the process and documentation requirements, from the British Embassy in Tokyo... very well explained. http://www.uknow....

Rafael, in the UK one would be able to take this to one's Member of Parliament in your local community, to try and get a quicker answer from the Home Office (our Immigration Department). I believe that you would be able to do the same as well in Ireland (correct me if Im wrong, anyone...). You would...

Hello ForumUser,

not sure this will be much help as I'm not Indian, but have you rung the Indian High Commission in London? If no one has answered yet, I guess a quick phone call would do the trick.

Best,
