I've looked into the unmarried partner option, but it's just like a tourist visa: no work and 6 months No, an unmarried partner visa is for 2 years and entitles you to work. Exactly right - bear in mind that to be able to apply for the UP visa, you have to be cohabiting for 2 years, at a minimum, o...

This really depends on what proof you partner will have of his/her intentions to leave the UK when the time is due. Personally, I would take his/her flight confirmation back to his/her country of origin, so that this could be presented to the Immigration Officer back in the UK. Also, any other relia...

Re: On Student Visa , but failed in Course. Can I do new Cou

Can you please say whether I can extend my STUDENT visa ? Will my FAILURE in the previous course be a problem ? Sorry to hear about your predicament. I am assuming you are doing a university type of course. Please let me know if otherwise. If so, please consider 1) contacting your tutor immediately...

Re: student overstayer need help urgently

please dun tel me to go back to burma. As Jeff said, you cannot change your status in country (unless as correctly noted you fall under the 14 yr rule, which I don't believe is your case). Have you considered options such as HSMP, Work in Scotland scheme, getting an employer to sponsor you for a wo...

This is a difficult situation, as I guess most uni's ask for the student to have been present in the UK, as a permanent resident, over the last 3 years before allowing for home fees to be charged. When does the course start? If she enrolled in Nov 2006 she will have been here 3 years and that would ...

I have a couple of friends who are Italian, Brazilian and British. No problem in any of those countries as they all allow for multiple citizenships. The only thing is, if you're in Italy, and have a problem, the UK government won't be able to help, as you are an Italian citizen... of course that wou...

No, he/she will only be able to reside here if you get to the ILR stage (Indefinite Leave to Remain, which is permanent residency). When this happens, he or she will be able to become British, upon your request. So, my advice is, hang on to your status until you secure your residency here in the UK ...

Dawie, my wife is from Mauritius, which has a higher GDP than South Africa ($13,100), yet she needs a visa for practically everywhere. There is always somewhere which has better visa rules than your own I'm afraid. ... adding to this, I'm Brazilian and we dont require visas to most countries in the...

The police would not want to know your status, surely. They would only issue you with the notice of the stolen passport, no?

Re: What happens to visa if passport is lost

I wonder if I lose passport, I can get duplicate from my home country's embassy. I strongly suggest you take photocopies of your passport, as well as any visas you have on it, before you send your passport off. In the unfortunate case you lose you passport, you will have much less hassle to prove y...

Are you being called for Military Service or Jury Duty?

I guess a copy of your Work Permit or ILR, ILE, student visa, etc should be sufficient.

You should really contact the embassy of your country of origin.

No need to be sarcastic - this is a point of view, and (IMHO) should be respected, even if you dont agree with it.
