Phil, The process is relatively similar to the one that Brazilians have to go through to get a job in the UK. I highly doubt you will be able to apply directly, as we (in Brazil) do not have a points system similar to the UK or Australia, etc. You need to find an employer willing to sponsor you, or ...

Great stuff! I love the explanation about mobiles versus the result of your application. That's the reason why so many applicants get their applicatiosns rejected. Just turn your mobiles off, everyone.

Well done, mister!

Re: Problem with naturalisation certificate

1) Could it be that the hyphen is mandatory in this country for surnames consisting of more than one word? In that case I would just let the matter rest. Marco, my surname also has a "de" in small letters, but I don't use it as a last name, but only as part of my middle name, which is wha...

If you have lost it, replacement is very difficult and probably lengthy. Make sure you don't lose your passport, even if expired, as it will be the only remaining proof of your claim to British citizenship. I sympathise with your circumstances, but to emigrate legally you will have to be in a profession/trade of demand. Immigrating illegally will most certaing hamper any future chances you may have, and you will get yourself into a maybe potentially worse situation than you are now (assuming from your ...

You can be sure that any citizenship "offer" that is not based on investment or residency/ancestry/marriage claims is most certainly likely be fake, and you will be committing a VERY serious criminal offense, which is likely to get you arrested, sentenced, serving a term in jail and then d...

I'd try and get one issued to me as soon as possible, and get out of the UK immediately.... before Friday of course.

The South African government should do what the Brazilians are doing, that is impement visa reciprocity. Personally, I think this is a very silly Brazilian decision... Americans, for instance, with money to spend on holidays or on business trips avoid going to Brazil because they have to get a visa...

you most certainly cant use your wife's NIN. You have to get your own. Check here: http://www.dwp.gov.uk/lifeevent/benefits/ni_number.asp Also, as regards you local GP - just turn up with your passport and ask if they are taking in new patients. In case of emergencies, you either go straight to A&am...

Hey Paul, I did not get the "FAKE" bit on my copies, thankfully! It's just a straightforward copy which I got certified in my local solicitor. I'm sure it would not be accepted by the government, but at least it would make any claim I need to make more credible I guess.

... in addition to Paul's reply, if your father has lost his certificate of naturalisation, he will have to wait 10 years before he can apply for a fresh certificate to be issued... and he should report the loss so that the clock starts ticking. See the full explanation on http://www.ind.homeoffice....
