Sponsering my UK spouse

I am a Canadian Citizen. I and my husband live in the UK. He is a UK citizen. We want to retire in Canada. I have been a stay at home wife and mother most of my adult life, and have no money of my own. My husband will have a generous final salary pension scheme from a major UK retailer. Can I sponse...

OK, So it looks like it was the 1948 act that changed my mother's status from being a British subject by birth, to one of descent.
And this is because she was born in Canada, and not in the UK or colonies. Canada not being a colony anymore.

Sound right?
thanks for your help.

MY point is that my mother was a CUKC not by decent, but by birth. Because she was born in a time when there was no British citizenship, only British Subject-hood. She was born a British subject in 1927. Then in 1949, all those who were British subjects and born in certain countries (Canada included...

Mother's staus Jan 1949... grasping at straws

I am going back through the nationality laws of the UK to see if I have any possibility of being regestering as a British Citizen. I would like to know if there was a possibility if my mother was BOTH a Canadian Citizen and a Citizen of the United Kingdom and Colonies (CUKC). She would have been a C...

Can I still presume that second generation citizen, who WAS a citizen in April of 2009 will lose that citizenship if he does not live in Canada for at least a year before he turns 28?

canadian citizenship query

If you got your C. citizenship because your mother was Canadian, and she got hers because HER mother was Canadian, do the changes brought about this year take that citizenship away from you? (second generation citizen)For instance, if neither you or your mother were born in Canada????

calling those on ancestry visa in the UK

I am looking for folks who are in the UK on an Ancestry Visa. I am a small part of a small team mounting our own fight against the 4-2-5 change as well as the new British Citizenship bill. We are looking for people to lend your name to a growing list of those adversely effected, and to attend a poss...

I think the limit is 10,000 dollars cash or monetary instruments. (Traveler's checks, personal or cashier's checks, that sort of thing.) More than that and you have to declare it at the airport, and you might have to prove the paper trail as to where it came from and possibly pay tax or duty of some...

I have a Canadian licence but notice on the form to exchange it they(DVLA) ask if I took a test in Canada. I did not. I took the test in US but exchanged for Canada brecause I thought I would be relocating there. Turns out I'm going to the UK instead. I have been legally driving for 30 years, includ...

Okay, great.
So I send which form and payment where? If the visa was issued in LA. do I go back there? (Which is possible).
It would only be a matter of a couple of months at most.
Thanks so much.

switching passports

Dopes anyone know if I can switch a visa to a different passport? Because of time limitations I think I will have to have my son's dependent minor visa (my visa is a UK Ancestry) placed in his US passport. However I wanted it to go in his Canadian passport to facilitate immigration at the airport, a...

paid training

I am entering the UK this summer with a UK Ancestry visa. I am looking into teacher training as a way to use my B.A. and my B.Sc. from America. I see that some areas pay their student teachers whilst they are training. Does anyone know if my being on a visa will disqualify me for this sort of progra...

Okay, just one small question and I will go back to lurking.
Does anyone know what sort of "leave to remain" I apply for after the four years is up? ANd is part time work goos enough to satisfy the working requirement?
(Ok, that was two, but they were both small...)
Thanks in advance.

The papers state very clearly that I am to move to the UK- with my son- in June of 2005 and that he will join me near July 29 of 2005. They give paticulars as to the new visitation schedule, dates and such, who pays for what and when, and even includes the same info in the event my X relocates to th...

I have a court order signed by a judge and myself as well as my son's father. This order is regarding a parenting plan and vis...

can I register as a citizen or have Right of Abode?

Ok, I have gone over the words with a fine tooth comb many times and am about to write the Home Office for an official opinion. But I thought I would throw it out to you guys first. I know that I can come over to the Uk on a UK ancestry visa, in fact that is what I am planning to do. But if I can ge...
