Re: Short duration visa issued - What now?

Thanks for your reply. Yes the visa is multi entry but duration of stay is listed as 35 days. I agree that it doesn't make sense since I am entitled to 90 days just like my EU spouse as long as we're together (which we will be..). I'm well aware that this is my right as the spouse of an EU citizen. ...

Short duration visa issued - What now?

Okay, so now here's a little pickle. I'm the spouse of an EU citizen, planning to visit family in Europe. I applied for a Schengen visa for 35 days (16th Aug - 19th Sep) and received exactly that from the Embassy of Italy in Santiago, Chile. But... they set the visa validity until 16th FEB 2015! (I ...

Re: Urgent: Query on Schengen visa

You don't need another visa if your Schengen visa is printed without any exceptions (does it say "Valid only for Greece" ?). I don't understand why you're asking here if you still want to double check with the consulate. Just do that if it gives you peace of mind. As far as anyone here is ...

Re: Spouse of EU citizen travelling to Malta - Questions

Regarding return tickets, airlines *mostly* ask for return ticket reservations when you are entering a country with visa on arrival or visa free entry. The schengen countries are extremely strict about visas in general and therefore airlines on most occasions just assume that this person will not be...

Re: Spouse of EU citizen travelling to Malta - Questions

Having already contacted the Austrian embassy here in Lima, we have been told that my wife needs to provide personal financial accreditation/employment record, travel insurance valid for the Schengen territory and duration of travel visa, as well as proof of accommodation in Malta. I believe this t...

Re: Non EEA Citizen Joining EU Citizen

Congratulations on making the decision to get hitched :) (well, in a way) I don't know about marriage/partnership in Moldova. Regarding residence permits in the EU, your partner would need to get a Schengen visa. Then you both enter the country and start the process of residency for him. Usually thi...

Re: Best EU Country to relocate!

This is a very vague question. Best country for what ? One man's paradise is another man's hell. I like Portugal. Fair weather, beautiful beaches, relaxed lifestyle, relatively low cost of living, but then, the job market is bad if you're looking for employment - salaries are terrible. If you're sel...

Re: German & South African spouse moving from UK to Germany

Thanks, I'll definitely hit you up for details if we do finally move to Berlin, those plans are on hold now due to some personal circumstances. I'm not 100% sure about official documentation, I do remember reading some FAQs, maybe on the Berlin municipality website, or somewhere else that mentioned ...

Re: Residence permit - Norway

If her baby is Norwegian then you'll have to check on Norway national law about a baby sponsoring a parent. This seems like a complicated scenario, it might be best to speak to an immigration attorney in Norway. If her partner and she are on good terms despite the cheating she can continue to stay o...

Re: German & South African spouse moving from UK to Germany

I'm pretty sure that's not true. Non-EU spouses of EU citizens may apply for a residence card once they have entered on a tourist visa (it's called an entry visa for spouses but looks the same..). The documentation that may have confused you is that in some places it mentions that people who don't n...

Re: Residence in the spouse's country and national laws

Oh... :S That is a terrible story and I'm so sorry you have to go through something like that. EU law I *think* says that after 2 years (I might be wrong on this number..) of residence even if you get divorced, the non-EU spouse retains their right to live/work in the EU. This of course only applies...

Re: Residence in the spouse's country and national laws

This is a very difficult question that you are asking. I guess if we pool our resources on this forum together we can come up with good answers. First off, I'm really sorry if your 3rd residence permit request has been rejected. That's terrible! What country is it ? I thought most EU countries give ...

Re: UK and Schengen visit visa from dubai

There's no issue. Just submit both visa applications with a detailed itinerary. As long as they have return tickets from the UK, everything should be fine. You can even submit flight reservation info from the UK<->Switzerland for the schengen visa - if you've already booked them.

Once the visa is issued, you can use it for other trips. There's no issue as long as your initial application was in good faith. Enjoy your summer trips :)

Re: Can two same gender non EU citizens enter civil partners

Congrats! The procedure should be the same as if you are German/EU citizens. Just follow the procedure for registering a civil partnership in Germany. India will not recognize your civil partnership but it will be recognized in countries that do recognize such a union. You should get some kind of ce...

Re: Eu Spouse visa

For the Czech republic you will have to apply for a short stay (90 day) visa and go there. You can do this very easily AFTER you are married. You must have a government issued marriage certificate. http://www.mzv.cz/jnp/en/information_for_aliens/family_member_of_an_eu_citizen/index.html Once over th...

Re: Germany - settling in Berlin ? (Portuguese + Non EU Spou

@ALKB - Thank you so much for the super detailed response. Looks like the procedure is quite straightforward.

So as I understand it, the self employment registration, tax details, etc. aren't required for the residence card because of the order you specified.

I agree liksah, but these embassies ,for example the French embassy in Nigeria says legalising a document does not mean the document is genuine, so why bother with it? The German embassy in Nigeria stopped it altogether, perhaps they can't seem to see the point of it  I wasn't aware of that!...

Hi there Liksah Thanks a lot for the reply! I will consider apostilling the CP certificate but it is a bit of a hassle and I'm not even sure how to do it. Congrats on getting the visa so quickly! In my opinion it's always better if you can get the marriage certificate/partnership document Apostilled. You will certainly be able to look for a job and find work. However, spouses of european citizens exercising free moveme...

As a US citizen you wouldn't need to get a visa to enter Germany. So, once you enter you have to rent a place, register that with the local police station, they give you a receipt, and then you have to go the foreign office and apply for a residence card. I'm actually planning a similar move with my...

Germany - settling in Berlin ? (Portuguese + Non EU Spouse)

Hi everyone Been lurking around these forums for ages and decided to finally ask since I have a burning question. Me and the wife are planning to move to Berlin, Germany for the next few years. I hold an Indian passport, she holds Portuguese. I understand that we can move there as a part of her exer...
